to all 97-03 fabtech 6" lift owners

i've had the lift on for about a month or two now and i can't stand the ride. i know the shocks are crap but i didn't think it would be this bad. i can feel every bump in road and my steering is all over every time i hit a bump. anybody else experienced this? i'm planning on steering stabalizers and new shocks when i can afford it but damn i didn't think it would be this bad. any help is appreciated. thanks,

Justin

I couldn't tell the difference between the stock set up and the lifted set up on mine.

Of course the tires made it ride a little worse but other than that it felt pretty much stock.

I am still running the same shocks. I do have the steering stabilizer though.

My truck rides great! what tires do you have?

35" pro comp mud terrains and thats what i've heard from most everybody with the lift, that it rides pretty close to stock but this ride is nowhere near stock.

I don't know what to tell ya man.

Have you heard anything about the tires? what load range are they? that will make it ride rougher.

also sorry for the elementary question but you did get an alignment after the lift was but on right?

also check all the basic stuff - ball joints, tie rods, idler/pitman arm, sway bar endlinks

if you haven't ever replaced any of that, now would probably be a good time.

I havent found much difference in the ride after the lift. I also have 35" Pro Comps.
I actually thought the Fabtech shocks were an upgrade over stock

well it didn't do it before the suspension lift so i'm pretty sure its no the tires and yes i did get an alignment right after i was done installing it.

couple things come to mind, my shock boxes were taped up when i recieved them. do you think by some crazy chance they were used before i go them? also i never drilled out the holes from the crossmember to the frame, could that be it?

the shocks are white, and even though I waxed mine (Im **** like that) they got a bit of rust on the bottom where they mount to the axel within the first month- I suspect if yours had been used and not new, you would have noticed some rust on them during the install?

I would take another look at the crossmember...that may be an issue

I have the 6" fabtech on mine and it rides better than it did stock. another elementary question, How much psi do you have in you tires? what does your tire call for? I can air my tires down and it rides alot smoother but it sucks more gas, so I am running them at about 55psi now for better gas milage.
