It looks like a breather for the axle and rear end.

Nope, it goes up towards the bottom of the bed.

its the vent tube for the axle/ rear end. there is a small clip on the underside of the bed that usually breaks, especially once you lift the truck and start flexing it.

you really should replace it with a long enough tube to get back up out of harms way. It is what helps keep the differential from flooding when submerged. Just get some 3/8" rubber hose and clamp it in place of the stock one

hey I broke the little metal tube that boes into the axle. the rubberone is still attached to the bed and the brake lines mount on it now the break lines flop and I don't wanta get anything in the axle .

any recomendations..?

Weld it shut or weld a new nipple on it which shouldnt be hard. Its a vent for the axle, but u for sure dont want water getting in there.

By the looks of the picture he may have some mud and water up that hose!!!
