35's To 37's
I am really looking forward to getting a 3" body lift and going from 35's to 37's and 20" rims. I really dont want to hurt my gas milage any more, does anyone who has made this transformation know how badly it affected if any at all.
P.S I have the 4.6 not 5.4. |
I did the same thing 35's to 37's on my 4.6L and the gas millage stayed the same did not really change at all.
|
it will hurt it a little. you may not be able to notice it, but it will be there. The 37's are going to be hard on that 4.6, id recommend a re-gear before stepping up to 37's. :smoke:

How would my highway be? Plus I guess 4.88 would be good cuz I am using my truck to tow my race car with also. So I need all the balls I can get.

They should run between 1200-1500 depending on the shop you go to. |
got 37s with 4.88s love them lot better on gas

The life of your transmission will be severely shortened if you do not re-gear. The clutch will burn up very quickly. I have a manual transmission and when I went to 35" tires before changing the gears, I had to to ride the clutch ALOT more than stock. I could only imagine how hard it would be with 37" tires.
It cost me close to 1200 to regear both the front and rear differentials. I got my parts from nationaldrivetrain.com. |
I LOVE my 4.88s .. I drive about 50% city and 50% highway. I try to go the speed limit on the highway to save some gas but it's not too bad. I'm running about 2100 rpms at 70 mph with 37s. The 4.88s help so much offroad though, it's insane. If you like to play around crawling, it will help a lot!
PS: If you don't have a limited slip, get one when you do the gears!! |
