Installing bilsteins

Anyone done this on the 04 NBS. I'm gettin a set but don't want to pay the 200 for getting them installed. Are they hard to install, or just let the shop do it?

It's easy man, don't be scared about it. The only part you'll have to do which might be slightly hard is getting a set of good spring compressors and compressing the spring.

Thanks man. I'm just not real sure at what to do to, decompress I guess you could say, the spring. Don't know how a spring compressor really works either. Any one else got some info?

The spring compressor is two pieces, which have hooks on both ends which go on the coils of the springs at each end. They also have bolts on each ends which you tighten and it'll squeeze it together. I know some places will do it for you for $10 but it's really easy. A lot of auto stores will loan you the tool if you don't have it.

I'd suggest removing the OEM shocks and taking them to a shop that has a heavy duty spring compressor. Just pay them to remove the coilsprings from the OEM shocks and install them on the new ones. Most shops that do strut replacements will have a heavy duty spring compressor.

I called one shop that does 4 wheel drive stuff in town and they wanted 60 bucks a 60. I didn't think it would be that expensive, or am I wrong?

That sounds high if you mean to just remove/reinstall the coils. Try Sears.
