torsion bars
hey i have heard lots of people say to turn the torsion bars up for a lift/level in the front. I have an 04 f-150 4x4 and id like to level it out butmy warrenty isnt up untill february so i cant do a leveling kit otherwise it will void my warrenty(correct me if im wrong). So i was woundering by doing the torsion bars what do i have to look out for, are there any problems that happen with doing this or any major wear i have to watch for? If you could give me some info on this id appreciate it.
thanks |
Unless you have a 2004 Heritage model(old body style) you do not have torsion bars. Easiest and cheapest way to level it will be a 2.5" spacer kit. Ebay has a ton of them.

doing the spacer kit, it will void my warrenty correct? i just want to make sure before doing so.

It should not affect your warranty, but ask YOUR dealer to make sure.

Do these spacers work on a 2001? Where do they go on the truck and what kind of search do you type in to find them in EBay? My torsion bars are cranked up by I would rather them not be....seems to eat the ball joints up.

97-03 F-150's have torsion bars so you cannot use spacers. The 97-03 F-150 4x2's have coils springs. Daystar makes coilspring spacer that fit on top of the coilsprings to give you up to 2 inches of lift.

I am a little lost...then what are these for because it lists them as a 97-03 2.5 4x4 levelig kit?

im pretty sure those are aftermarket torsion keys & i would stay away from those if i was you, will put your cv joints in way too much of a bind & angle
wandell should chime in about them |
dont get those keys! they are for only 4x4's they will cause too much stress though. if 4x2 get coil spring spacers. if you have 4x4 you can tighten the stock torsion bars a bit to get more level. still puts a bit more stress but not like the new keys will

wandell do you have coilspring spacers on your truck? i was looking thru your pics and saw them. i thought they could only be used for 4x4s, just wondering whats up with that setup? im sure im missing something. thanks
|
I agree. I'd stay away from the aftermarket torsion bar keys for the reasons listed above.
I had Daystar spacers on my old Jeep Grand Cherokee. That is what the pic is of. I took the pic because when you mentioned "coil spring spacers" people tend to think of those cheap pieces of metal that you buy at parts stores that wedge in between the coils on the spring. Those are bad. |
thanks, yeh i was wondering about those, becuase i saw your truck was 4x4 and i was thinkin maybe it was another truck but anyway thanks for clearin that up. i was just curious about you havin the spacers.

Thanks for the info..I will stick with just having my torsionn bars turned up a bit.
