I know I'm gonna get yelled at for this...
Sry guys, I know that this conversation has been beat around 100 times in here but I need a definite answer. I pllan on getting a 6in Fabtech lift for my 4x2 04 F150, I also will be getting 35" tires with new wheels as well ( maybe mickey thompson) My question is, will I need to purchase new gears to help compensate for the new suspension and what size backspacing will I need to get for the wheels. thanx for the help!:beers:
The suspension has nothing to do with the gears, it's your tires. If you want back to stock or a little better get up and go, you will need gears.:beers:
Yep, gears will be a great idea with 35's. I'd suggest a wheel with 5 to 6 inches of backspacing.

does anybody know where I can purchase new gears?

anybody? I'm outta my league when it comes to gears:help:
4.56 gears will be a good ratio for 35's. but you need to figure out what rear diff you have. my guess is you have the 8.8 since you're runnin a v-6.:rocker:
actually Im runnin a V8
sorry, i thought i read you had v-6. my bad:confused: check www.4wheelparts.com i'm sure they would have a decent gear calculator to figure engine rpms at different vehicle speeds for various tire sizes.

Also check this...http://www.ring-pinion.com/
4.6 motor has the 8.8 rear end
5.4 motor has the 9.25 rear end |
