Exclamation HELP with drop shackles!

So I have might truck jacked up on stands with the floor jack supporting the pumpkin. I loosen on the bolts on the shackles and when I get the first lower bolt out of the shackle and harness the leaf spring went straight to the top of my bed. Was I supposed to unload the leafsprings? How do I bring it back down from here AND how do I prevent this from happening to the next shackle/leafspring???

This is what i used to help me install my shackles, guess i'm just not as mechanically inclined as I thought I was. Can anyone offer any help!

If I understand the position you are in, just lower the diff and the springs will follow.......

What he said.

When you put the whole truck up on the stands, the back wheels need to be off the ground, then put the floor jack under the pumpkin, and raise the jack JUST enough so that it makes contact with the pumpkin, but does not raise the axle up at all.

Im guessing you had the floor jack jacked up to high ???

thanks for the help! After about a half hour or so of scratching my head and reading this forum I took the hint and let out the pressure of the floor jack... I guess it was holding the axle up to high which wasn't releasing any of the pressure on the leaf springs! Again thanks for your help, everything turned out awesome! I love the 2'' shackle drop so far!
