which leveling kit to get?????

I have an 05' scab fx4, and i am going to level it out but im not sure which leveling kit to get. I've heard stories about some brands being a pain in the a$$ to install. so my question is what brand do you recommend for ease of installation and quality? I also pull a 10000lb boat on the weekends what kit would you recommend for the rear? does anyone have any pics of a set up like this?

My first try

I had the same questions and was recommended the kits on e-bay from springbender. Instructions were simple and if you follow them it should only take a couple hours to do. I have pics on the camera still . The truck looks great and even. I installed the 2" or 2 1/2" forget which and that was all it needed. I have a 05 sup cab. Thought it would be impossible-wrong. Very easy. Hope this helps. Have fun & take care. Dean

I'm pretty sure Dean is talking about the Autospring level kit. Very easy to install if you want to do it yourself or take it to a alignment shop and have it done. Do a search, Aaron did a full install with pics, better than the instructions that come with it.

I had the AS 2.5" installed on my 05 Lariat 4x4 and have noticed no difference from the stock ride. I too pull a 20' boat and didn't want the rear to sag when hooked up, so I also installed a Skyjacker 1.5" add a leaf, now the back sits about 1.25" higher when empty and level with the boat hooked up.

Autospring 2.5" - $100
Skyjacker 1.5" AAL - $125
Install of both with alignment - $225

Sorry don't have any pics posted yet.

Here's mine with a 2.5" autospring leveling kit installed, love the look of it. I paid $80 for the kit and $190 to have it installed and alignment done. Probably the easiest kit to do yourself, but for me it was worth the money to take it and get everything done all at the same time.

The 2 1/2 inch AS seems to bring your truck up in the front just a hair too much. Or is it just the pics???

I am trying to decide on 2... or go with the 2 and 1/2.

I agree that the front winds up being too high in relation to the rear. That's why you should get an add-a-leaf kit installed. I just got the 2" AS as well as Pro-Comp leafs on my Lariat. Now, the truck is about perfectly level and with my new Goodyear Wrangler ATS 34" tires, it has a MUCH tougher stance without being too big or extreme-looking. Just how I like it.

By the way, the ride is exactly like stock as far as I can tell.

It does bring it up ~3/4 higher in the front then in the back. I will probably eventually go with a 1.5" aal in the rear to bring it back up in the back. Really though it is hard to tell when the truck is on even pavement, which my driveway isn't.

I'd go with the 2" AS and the Add a Leaf on the rear. The 2 1/2 would look great but with the weight of the boat (even with the AAL) the front of your truck will be pointing up. Or you could go with an airlift setup on the rear to level out the rear of the truck no matter what load your carrying. My 2 pennies. Good luck with whatever you go with.

Any of the Autospring kits are the way to go. I received mine in one business day with free shipping! Great customer service.

I dont see how it is possible for the 2.5" to bring the front 3/4" higher than the rear. My measurements show that the rear will be 1/2" taller than the front from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender.

I also took a measurement of the chassis height next to the left front wheel, and the height just before the left rear wheel, and again the rear came up .4 inches higher.

This may just be my vehicle as it has 30,000 miles on it, and most people are installing these kits when the truck is still realitivly new.

Has anyone else noticed the front being taller than the rear?

Every single truck is different, they all have different ride heights.

You can get the Autospring off of ebay usually with free shipping. I got my Skyjacker aal thru Autoanything because they were offering free shipping. Just search the web, I know Summit carries them as does allot of other places.

I'd go with a 2.5" Autospring if you are planning on the aal, otherwise you will have a lower front end like the factory rake when not hooked up to anything.
