Which Gears?
When It Comes To Cars And Trucks, I Know Absolutely Nothing. I Recently Lifted My 2004 F-150 4x2 With A 6" Fabtech Lift. I Always Read People Upgrading Their Gears. Now, Is That Something I Should Do? What Are The Effects If I Do Not Change Them? What's The Price On Upgrading Them, And When Can I Go To Get Them Upgraded? Thanks In Advance.
Did you go up in tire size with the lift? If so, what size tires do you have? I also have a 6" lifted 4x2 and I went to a 33" tire. My stock gears are 3.55LS. I am going to go to 4.10's and was told that will put me back to stock. I got a price of about $500 to $800 and that's just for one axle since we have 4x2's. I would think any local shop can do the gear swap out for you.
there is nothing but pros to doing a gear change if you have gone to larger tires, it will decrease the strain on the tranny caused by the larger tire size it will increase performance and city mpg, if you do not change them it will put more of a strain on your tranny and performance, i recomend 4.56 ratio if you are running 35" tires, good luck
