I got a 02 2wd 4.2 ext cab looking for a lift kit that will raise the truck 7 to 10 inches...wanna run 35" tires...

I know it's a V6 and power can be a issue so I already installed a chip..full exaust system, electric fans, TB spacer, K&N cold air induction set up, and fixing to install some steeper gear this weekend...

Now I have already spent some money just trying to keep what little power this thing already has..

What are the options on a lift kit... I know Fabtech makes some kits for like 1K and up but is there any other ways to cut cost?
I dont mind running a body lift kit if I have to to get the extra inches I need but I'm running out of money on this project and wanna see if theres a cheaper way out?

You could combine a 3 inch body lift, 2 inch Daystar spacers and a set of 3.5 inch lift spindles for 8.5 inches of lift up front and then add a lift block and add-a-leaf in the rear.:thumbsup:

Ooooh... thumbs down to that. I like to pinch pennies, too, but not when it compromises the safety of myself or other people on the road. Just say 'no' to lift blocks for the rear.

There is nothing wrong with lift blocks in the rear, it's the front where they should never be used. As an example, every 4x4 F-150, F-250 and F-350 that Ford produces comes with a lift block in the rear.

Well, I guess it's up to the threadstarter if he wants to **** his leafs up... that's not for me, though. Plus I'm willing to bet that the 'liftblocks' Ford puts on at the factory aren't gonna be 6+ ****ing inches tall. :-/

No, they are not 6 inches tall. That's why I suggested a combination of a lift block and an add-a-leaf. Also, the F-350 lift block Ford uses is 4 inches. Maybe they should recall the millions of F-350's they have sold before the rear leaves are destroyed. :rolleyes:

their is nothing wrong with a 4" lift blocks for the rear it is 100% safe and functional and if wheel hop acurs then traction bars can fix it i agree 100% with wandell, i hav been offraoding and building offroad rigs for years, no problems with lift blocks
