RCD or FABTECH?

Anybody out there have a Fabtech or Rcd for a SuperCrew FX4?

I want the lift for practical use not just posing. I want to maintain a half way decent ride because it is a family vehicle. I'm probably going to put on 35s and re-gear.

i love my fabteck lift it dont change the suspension from stock handeling so it rides the same then you just get adjustable shocks to make it as firm or as soft as you want you have any Q' just ask i have ran numerus suspensions in lots of vehicles here is a link to a couple pics i just took:rocker

Up here in Big Bear I do a lot of hunting and take it off road in the snow a lot. I've already bent one of my nerf bars dragging on rocks. I use to have a Jeep that I build strickly for rock crawling and I guess I'm use to going wherever I want, but now my truck sits way too low to attempt some of the stuff I use to do.

I have to keep in mind that my wife likes to drive the truck so that's why I can't get too extreme, but the Fabtech and the RCD both look really nice.

go with a 6" from fabteck but dont get the shocks that come with the kit the are crap get some better ones i have a few in mind if you want sugestions, with that lift you can fit 35" and that will give you enough clearance but not to much were it handles funny so the wife could still drive it no problem

my last vehicle was also a jeep, loved it but needed something that could haul a trailer

thanks...sounds good.

Ranchos or Procomp mx6?

I had some 9000s on my jeep and I loved them. Haven't heard too much about the ProComp adjustables.

the mx6 are so much more than the ranchos, but the mx6 are 6 valved adjustable, the ranchos are only 3, if you got the money i would go with the mx6, i got to play around with one and i like the resistance and the 6 levels you can adjust it to

Ive got Rancho 9000RSX's and they appear to have 9 different settings, not 3. Also one difference to note between the 2 shocks is that one is that the MX6's are pressurized and the Rancho's are not. The MX's appear to be visually superior in strength and quality to the Rancho's but, I have NEVER heard of a 9000RSX breaking. Just my 2 cents.

Go with the RCD. Fabtech is good, I'm completely happy with RCD, plus you don't have to go out and by better shocks...the Bilsteins are the way to go. Just my .02

I've heard lots and lots of good things about the RCD lift. I didn't realize that the border patrol uses the RCD on their vehicles. It has to be pretty stout to withstand chasing all the (uh-uhm) "undocumented" citizens around in the desert.

I've actually heard a lot of good about both systems I guess it just comes down to price now, since the quality is good on both.

the reason border patrol uses the rcd lift is because the goverment puts up that they need a lift fo so many vehicles and they go to like 4 companys that make the lift and tell the comp. what they need and who will make it for the lowest cos, the goverment buys from the lowest bidder regardless of quality or workmanship they acount for only cost, trust me i work for the government and know this on a firsthand basis

I always figured they went to the highest bidder the way they spend our taxes..hehe h

yeah, I realize that. Just from looking at different trucks with these two lifts they both seem well made. That's why I only asked about the Fabtech and RCD....the other lift kits don't impress me at all.

I appreciate all of your imput.

I gotta start saving again..but the lift, tires and wheels, and rhino lining are next on the agenda.
