Rancho's
Well I ordered 4 Rancho RSX's from sam's, dude said 4 to 5 days from Tulsa. So I'll give ya a report when I get em on.
It seems like the majority are going with rancho's so like a cow in a corral I just followed :confused: |
Okay got the RSX's installed. I thought the install went well took me an hour and 15 Minutes. no where near as bad as I thought it would be.
My opinions are mixed going slow down dirt roads (20 mph) I think it is almost to rough I can feel all the small ripples alot. I drive about 8 miles of dirt a day.... But anything faster and there great, train track huge holes whoopee. The rougher the better. Oh yeah most of you will probably think I'm crazy but I swear my tires are alot louder now! Are those the ones you can set yourself?
Did you try different settings? Just curious as I may be thinking of getting them in the future to see if it helps soften the front up from the stock ones I got on there now,hits the bumps pretty hard, but may be because of the aggressive tires as well. |
RSX is a self adjusting shock. You don't change the RSX settings manually. You can read about each Rancho shock here:

Rancho RXS
Just replaced the Pro Comp ES 3000's with the Rancho RSX and it was like night and day. The Pro Comp are junk, the bushings are nothing like the Rancho's. Great ride on my o2 2wd.:bows:

Oh Yeah.. My brother told me (he is a mechanic) that the chilton book he was looking in said that OEM shock should be changed at 12,000 miles.
Didn't believe him so he showed me and no shipt, the book I looked in did say 12,000. My Supercrew had 58,000 on it and both rear shocks were bad....:smoke: |
2000f150 39k.i bought the rancho rsx from sams.i was going to do the install today myself but stopped at big o tire and they said they would install them for $50,no brainer for that price. very satisfied, i like the ride much improved over stock.

You guys with the RSX's, explain your ride you notice now,
is it just the handeling is better, does it seem to ride smoother, taking the bumps better, etc, etc,, how about with a load in back, have you tried that yet, what about pulling something , like a boat? are these shocks, good for that too, or what? HEY!, thanks alot :cool: |
The ride is smoother with or without a load. I don't notice alot of difference in the way it handles. I was mainly after a better highway ride. I recommend the RSX for the price.

I just installed the RSX's on my truck this weekend and I have one question reference the red "boots" since no instructions were included.
How far down onto the shock should the boot go, especially on the rear ones. It seems like they won't go anywhere near as far as the fake plastic ones that were stock. Thanks. |
Pull the red boot down on the main body as far as possible and tie them off with the red zip tie provided in the kit.

Dougs,
Put the boot down about ½ to 1 inch past where the shock expands in diameter. You should note the two holes in the boot. If you pull the boot onto the shock tube past these holes the boot will not drain and cause problems later. Compress the shoch and slip the boot on the stud end. Regards Jean Marc Chartier |

DoudS, where did you get that grill insert?
That would like nice on my truck too, heh, heh! Or, does anyone know if theres a place online that sells such accessories, for reasonable prices? I want to put stainless tube style bed rails on to, a guy at work said they make such a thing, because i WAS going to go chrome, but here in MN, you gotta keep on that stuff, or you know what happens:eek: |
Thanks JMC, I did notice the 2 holes and was concerned about them being too far down on the shock and not working as they were designed.
