4.6l with 6in lift and 35's

This is what my truck will be at in one week...is there any other tweaking i will have to do to it? I know I am gonna lose power, but it is not gonna tear up my tranny will it? If I wanted to change the gearing later, what is a good ratio and how much does that usually cost? Someone let me know if I should expect any problems, thanks....

I would not run that setup without regearing your truck for a long time. That is a lot of added weight with the tires and will put a lot of stress on the powertrain. 4.30's or 4.56's wopuld be my reccommendation. I have 35's with 4.56's and love it. Only problem is that with 4.56's at that high a cut the truck whines at around 50 coasting. got used to that though. It cost me a little over $600 with new bearings, but a 4WD would be double.

Most likely you'll be looking at 4.56 gears since 4.30s are only offered for the 8.8 or 9.75 but not the RC 8.8 IFS. The only option is to get some 4.30 gears from a Currie HP9" which should work but I don't know for sure. If you're wondering about durability just read my signature.

i have a 2002 f150 supercrew with a 4 inch rancho lift and 35's. it also is a 4.6L and i have not regeared and not plan on regearing. i have had no problems with it and i bet i wont because i dont abuse it at all . i noticed the loss of low end power loss but the truck didnt have much low end power anyway. you can regear without a doubt but i did not. that just my choice.

I thought the same thing when I put my 35s on. Mine has seen the trails twice after they went on and both times I took it easy on it since I was still learning how the tires would handle offroad. Now it never leaves the pavement and I'm easy on it on the street as well. Still didn't help make the tranny last very long. Power loss and breakage was just too much and I had to take them off. If I could go back in time I to when I replaced my old Wilderness ATs I would have put a good set of 255/70/16 BFGs on it and left it stock and skipped all the hassles I've gone through since then.
