Post Self install on spacers?

Ok I'm getten ready to install coil spacers on my truck...i wanted to get them done profesionally but either no one in the north county of san diego would do it or they wanted 250-300 plus the alignemt. My main questions are what size diameter spacers do I need? And how do you install them...from what I get you just jack up the truck and drop out the shock, do i keep the truck jacked up when i use the compressor..or can I let it back down...am I missing anything here in the instalation?

The Diameter I'm not sure about. We just bought some $7.00 spacers at a local auto parts place. They worked fine. One Tip : RENT A SRPING COMPRESSOR. the kind that works from inside the spring. You have to jack up the truck AND put it on jack stands so the suspension droops. Then you remove the shock. Then you compress the spring and slide the spacer under the spring. You then uncompress the spring, Reinstall the shock, put the tire back on, and let the truck down. EASY PEASY JAPANSEY.
