Unhappy Underside Squeaking

Hello People!

I hope you are doing well. Two weeks ago my truck started squeaking very LOUDLY each time I pass through an uneven surface, usually at low speed, like when I'm in the neighborhood at 1.5 mph. I think the sound is coming from the leaf springs or perhaps from the links to the bar on the front. The links are new, so I do not think that is the source. Is there any king of lubrication/maintenance that I should do? My truck's underside looks perfectly OK to me, but the squeaking is driving me NUTS.

Which lubrication points are the ones that are critical and that I should not overlook?

Thanks for any help.

Robert

Could possibly be the leaves squeaking. They get crud inbetween them and they squeak really bad. Mine do it pretty loud. About all you can do is spray some silicone spray inbetween them, but thats only temporary. Aside from that it could be ball joints, suspension bushings, etc.

I had the same problem. Look at the rear springs. They have plastic inserts at the end of each sping to keep them from rubbing on each other. Mine were shot. The inserts are a pain to change (pry bar between each leaf). Take a look at both ends of each spring.
I did mine at 60k and now my truck is quiet.

Hey m1j, you got a part number and price on those inserts? I've got about 60k on my truck and its squeaks like you would not believe.

i don't have a part # but they were in the parts dept. "junk bin". they cost about $2 ea. they are either round or square (both work fine, mine are from a 250 as well as a 150) with a little nib sticking out of the center of each. the nib sticks into the hole on the leaf spring end. they can be ordered in multi packs . sorry but no part #'s
