auto A/C

OK, I have a question about the automatic AC. When I hit MAX A/C, it goes to 60 degrees and blows cold air, but if I try to bump it up one level to 65, it blows warm air. It just doesn't seem to control the air properly. If I leave it at 60, it never slows down, it blows hi fan constantly. I can leave work, turn the ac on, and when I get home I'm ready to get out because it's so cold. How does this work for the rest of you.

Thanks,

Rick

I have a 2002 Supercrew 4x2 Lariat.
The Max Cool does drop the temp to 60 degrees when I hit the button. I can increase the temp set point by tapping the red button and this increases the temp one degree at a time. The fan will gradually slow down as the temp is met and the truck cools.
I think max cool closes the cab to the outside air when enabled. In high humidity ( 90% to 100%) I always use max cool and raise the temp from say from the intial 60 to 72-74.

Your correct the MAX air recirculates the inside air. Where as the normal A/C will draw air from the outside.

The MAX A/C will use less gas as it is only having to recool the inside air. The disadvantage of the MAX is the air can get stale and if you don't use the normal air or the vent once in a while mildew will start to build up in the vents and that sucks!

The MAX will keep down the humidity in the cab a lot more so I always use the MAX setting. When I am almost home I will turn on the vent and blow some warmer outside air though the system to dry it out a bit.

Now one other point is if it's REALLLLLYYYY hot inside and not bad outside you could use the normal A/C for the first few minutes to get going as it is not trying to cool the really hot inside air.

i leave my climate control set at 75 degrees and it works perfectly. fan runs high for awhile then gradually decreases when the temperature drops.

as for setting it at 60 degrees, i doubt the cab would ever get that cold on a hot day and therefore the fan will run on high forever trying to bring the temp down...

btw, the system will automatically go to recirculate when the air inside the cab is hot...then it automatically switches back to normal as the interior cools down.
