Need pics of 4x4 Screw's!!!!!

I have just recently ordered a 2002, FX offroad, supercrew, white with grey trim, grey leather interior, and it is loaded. I am going to get some CHROME WHEELS and BFGoodrich A/t tire(285). The problem is i cant make up my mind which ones to get. On my past truck(Which i have just totaled in the past month or so) had Eagle Alloy 16x8 series 146 Chrome wheels and 33 11.50 thornbirds. I really liked the rims but i was just wanting to change the style on my new truck. If youhave any pics or advice just post them please. Thanks

Wwll, I've got a 4 x 2 that is good to look at. It's a 2001 with a 6" RCD lift, 3" body lift, 35" BFG's, 12" welds, 4.56 gears, throttle body space, airforceone air filter kit & 9" super offroaders behind the grill. Oh yeah, billet grill & antenna.

I kind of like my stock rims. But will change with lift kit. I am also keeping my eye out for good looking set up. I like the picture of jonjulkevkat ride. But I can't understand why some one would lift a two wheel drive 9". No disrespect intended. I guess it's cause I live in Tahoe and never driven a two wheel drive.

Duh, here is my Pic.

I see a lot of really nice lifts on 2 wheel drive trucks, and always ask WHY. If you ever considered lifting your truck, why wouldn't you get a 4x4 in the first place and go from there?

A $6000 lift on a 2wd looks great, has more ground clearance that you would ever need, but it's still a 2wd. And offroading, your still gona have a better chance of getting stuck.

Anyways, just wondering if any 2wders could answer this question.

Hello dcovell.

I bought my 2wd F-250 Crew Cab a couple of years ago. Then proceeded to put a 3" body lift on it?
WHY you may ask? well the wife wanted it, so she got it. And I'll agree with her that it DOES look better. Yet I specifically wanted, sought out and purchased the 2WD!

I did not want the extra Insurance for a 4wd
I did not want the extra expense in parts because their heavy duty...
I did not want the extra weight
And we seldomly go to the snow, or off roading.
I did not want that 3/4 ton bone crushing ride. (bad back)
So why WOULD I want a 4WD?

And really, how many 4wd vehicles do you think will ever see a dirt road period! EVER!!

On the flip side... when I went to sale the truck. I got alot of offers... the first 19 all wanted it to be a 4wd... go figure?

so I decided this time around I would get a 4wd SCrew.
So as not to have that same delima. great ride as opposed to the 3/4 ton...and stil 4WD!

Then I get screwed again...Now I have the nice 4WD that HAS seen dirt mountain roads by the way...

But since getting the truck a year ago...I found this "dammed site."
Reading posts from guys like Neal, Crash, (damm them) putting all these performance ideas in my head... (sure put the charger on you'll love it)...( sure, let me show you how you can squeeze just a few more HP's of of her)....

Now I have a sweet looking...fast...blown...modded out 4WD!
(with street tires!)
Go figure!

Late....

I guess if you're never going to wheel your truck it doesn't matter if its 2wd or 4wd.

Again thats just my opinion on the 2wd lift thing. I personally like to take it in the dirt once in a while, I also like to go shooting and out here in San Diego, you HAVE to drive offroad for a while to get away from everything and everyone.

The stock 4x4 height is nice, I would like some nicer tires and better shocks other than that, the lift thing (unless I got a bunch of money) will not happen.

By the way it's great to see a huge 4x4 on a drag strip

Hey nodrive55, did you notice any diffrence with your throttle spacer? Also I too like your grill, where did you get it and does it whistle when driving at higer speeds(this is in regards to the grill not the spacer as I know that whistles)?

Mosa Nov 10, 2001 08:36 AM

still stock wheels, but lookin...

would like to see what others have done too...

BTW, nodrive55, I thought the same thing, but ended getting my Screw as a 4x4... found that I was glad Ihad it 2 weeks ago... was a 'chase truck' on a motocycle outing down in TN ( dont ask, woulda rather had been ridin than cagin...). One of the riders had come from across the state to ride, but didnt check his rear tire, well during th eride we found he had ridden down PAST the cords ...danger danger... saw that at a lunch stop... well, we decided we would load it intot heScrew... one of the guys waved me around to a sloping area where we sould get a better angle to load the bike on the back of the truck... well, he didnt look where he was wavin me... top of the dirt was just a crust over top of serious SWAMP mud... so, here I go whippin around and then notice, hmmmm its gettin kinda mushy... oh s#@... switch to 4Low, keep momentum up... Wahoo, slip slidin away... played a little bit, found a better spot to load the bike and on our way... without that 4x4, woulda been stuck for sure... so, I am actually GLAD I paid the estra for the weight and such... (Plus, it snows where I live..so I can use it more than the sunbelt folks ...grew up in So. Cal so I can rib em heh heh...)

BTW, it wasnt a Harley broke down, it was a HONDA... hahahaha ( I have a Valkyrie, so my buds rib Harleys all the time about breakin down... we got a good un on this brother...had a ball jabbin at him wiht his bike on the truck... hahahaha)

Anyway, Pics of my Screw: http://community.webshots.com/album/22424721lDzkMbkUix

I would love to upgrade wheels and tires and am watching the posts here to see who's doin what...

Here's a pic for ya. I just like the look of a 4x4. Besides I use it alot to hunt and fish. Either way a FORD's a Ford right?

Ford Outfitter Nov 10, 2001 01:06 PM

Sorry here's the pic

DAVEMAN Nov 10, 2001 01:15 PM

Here's a pic if it's not too late.

I use 4 wheel drive when it rains a lot and I need to do some hauling in soft soil. Besides I just like the way they sit and having 4 wheel drive is just another form of insurance, isn't it?

My pic is in my sig! Happy 4 wheeling.

Hey Guys...

Jryager: It is a Street Scene "Speed Grill". Got it from truckperformance.com a while back. Paid about 200.00, their now about $150.00... They also make a valance insert, looks sweet.

dcovell: Yes she's big but it's pretty cool to pounce an some of those Stangs and imports at the strip. low time so far...15.002.

I hear you with the preference thing. Like "Ford Outfitter" stated..
A Ford's a Ford...all shapes and sizes, but in the end we still have bad ass lookin trucks!

Got the throttle body spacer from Same place as Grill. In fact it was the first mod I did. Yes it has a distinctive sound to it. like a mini blower sucking in air. I DID notice some improvement after install? I can see where others say they are pieces of crap, after they install them after FIPK, and cat backs. they can't really notice much improvement at all...just that whine.

When I get my new throttle body I'll probably take it off?? or not??
...Oh yeah you were talking about the grill...NO, there are no unusual sounds the come from it...Just the ooohs and aaahhs from people staring at it...

Mosa: Nice looking ride of yours... I especially like the familiar Borla cat back with Phantom tips...
I hear you with the advantages of a 4x4...Here's an embarasing story...

"Several years ago with my F-250 CrewCab 2WD, We went to the movies. the paved lot was full. There was an empty field next to the theater, with other trucks already there. I thought sure take it "off road" (ha ha!) So I backed it up into position.

Get out of the movies..get in and back up to turn around..
when the heavy bitch starts to sink into the freshly rained ground.
I thinking no problem I have a truck right! wrong! W/O 4WD I was SOL. Had to call a tow truck to winch me out. Talk about embarrasing. A full size F-250 with big off road tires, then and only then did I regret my 2WD decision!

Late...

Sorry for late responses...Just came back from the out of town anniversery thing...NAPA Valley, CA.
