its nearly impossible these days..
if you pull the fuse on the odometer the truck won't start.
if you pull the cable of the tranny the truck won't shift.

if you pull the steering wheel, you can get a good swing at it with a small sledge hammer

actually, it will only disconnect at the tranny.
on the left side there is a two pole connector.
one goes to the odometer and one controls the shifting.
disconnect the odometer pole only and the truck runs fine.

I guess we are runnig out of good or important stuff to talk about.

I say if you are going to defeat the odometer then you should ensure you don't waste your money on a few other important things:

1. Don't waste your time or money changing the oil, filters or washing and cleaning because based on the mileage no will know.

2. Take the money you save on your oil and filter changes, car washes and other maintenance associated with mileage and put it in the bank. The day you go to sell this jewel, buy new tires, get it washed, vaccumed. Still no need to change the oil or filters as no will know except you.

3. Buy a couple of butt connectors to fix the odometer wires you cut.

4. Just hope like he// you sell it before the engine blows so Ford doesn't catch you and call out the odometer police or the Feds.

5. Don't forget to always buy new because you will never know if someone else pulled this crap on you.

6. Don't forget to triple your mileage claims for the IRS and also don't forget to mention the 12 kids you have all in daycare at the same time, thats why you needed the screw to begin with.

Must I continue, have to stop here I'm getting pissed.

i work for ford, and the stuff about pulling off the wire at the tranny isnt real. the OSS does have 2 wires, but its not "one for the odo and one for the trans" its a variable reluctance sensor, therefore it has to have 2 wires to work, and they both go to the PCM . Dont worry anyone, theres no way to defeat the odo on a 99 up F150, although it wasnt that hard on a 97 and 98.
