why not long bed
I'll take a guess on why they don't and won't.
When Ford released the Excursion last year it was on every national news network, with them blabbering about it's girth. Every station showed a little old lady trying to park it and how it stuck out of the parking place.
The overall length of the Excursion = 226.7 inches.
The overall length of the SuperCrew = 225.9 inches.
The Excursion took all the bad press and the SuperCrew slipped in unnoticed. If Ford tries to add two and a half feet (plus the weight) to a light-duty pickup, there will be ramifications.

I don't know Raoul,
I know I'm playing advocate here, but the Screw rides on the same chassis as the short bed Supercab. Since they already have the long bed chassis, for the Supercab, why couldn't they make a 'long bed' Supercrew? I predict they will make it. Provided there is a demand.
I think the people, in the media, that complain about the Excursion are the same people who put it in the same category as a Minivan. Not really fair to the Excursion.
If you can't drive it,(I don't mean you Raoul) don't buy it.

Are you sure they have the same chassis as the SuperCab short bed? I think my friend at ford said they are different. Not sure though

Well they do have the F250 Super Duty Crew Cab Short Bed that would be a SD equivalent to what you are talking about. They probably thought that met the niche sufficiently. Personally, I don't think there would be much demand for a F150 SuperCrew 6.5' bed. I was orig looking at the F250 Crew Cab Short Bed and it makes the SuperCrew feel nimble as a car.

Ford is probably figuring that if you need a 4 door with an 8 foot box, you get a superduty. I had a 150 extended w/ 8' box and a cap, and it was long!! But I have hauled almost as much s$$t in the new one as I have in the old. I think I can even haul more (pounds wise) than I could in the old truck, just not as much volume.
