Power Moonroof.....Pro's and Con's

I'm going to order a new Supercab tomorrow and know that a lot of the Screw owners have opted for the Power Moonroof. Has anyone had any problems with theirs? This option has plenty of upside in my opinion, water leakage would be the only downside I can think of, anything else I should know?

Thanks in advance guys! https://www.f150online.com/f150board/cool.gif

Zach, In two weeks we will have had our SuperCrew one year. The moonroof has never leaked, squeeked or tweaked! We love it!

While I've only had my SCrew for four months, I've got over 16,000 miles on it, so i've had some seat time under the moonroof. The only down side is that on *very* hot days (over 100') it allows heat/sunlight in if you forget to close the shade...and that's not a very big problem compared to how nice it is to have. I probably used my a/c about 1/3d less by having the moonroof/rear sliding window combination open. This allows a nice cool and relatively quiet (compared to having side windows down) breeze.

Zach,
Your post say's your ordering a supercab.
The supercab does not have a moonroof option to my knowledge. If you mean your ordering a screw that's another issue.
Anyway's I have one & like it.Very nice on summer eve's.I use the tilt option almost all winter for ventilation. No problem's or leak's or rattle's , very solid.

Hey if I'm wrong about the moonroof in supercab option let me know please.

Enjoy it !!!

Thanks for the great feedback guys.

Fallscrew...The Supercab does have the Power Moonroof option. I built my truck on www.Ford.com late last week and faxed that spec sheet to the fleet or sale managers of 3 different dealerships in my area Friday for quotes, not one said a word to the contrary.

By the way, another option which just became became available is heated seats with CLOTH interior on the XLT. This too is listed on www.Ford.com though I thought it was incorrect. All 3 dealers verified that this option is valid.

Zach,
Thank's for setting me straight.I'll have to check out that site. Well maybe not I might get some idea's with all the new option's coming out.
Since the power moonroof is avail to you I would go for it as long as it's a factory intall option.
Good luck Bud.

Zach,
I just picked up my Screw 10 days ago. No leaking or other problems. Before I added the sunroof to my truck, I checked with my brother. He's got a 2000 Eddie Bauer Expy with the sunroof for over a year and has no complaints.
Go for it.

May 7th will be a year for my Screw and no leaks. I love the roof and could not imagine the truck w/ out it. It adds so much to it from exterior and interior and looks and in the feel of the truck when driving w/ it open or raised. Great airflow, no leaks, no loud air noise or nothing.

Good luck!

What are the differences in the two consoles. I know the trucks without it have a console with temp and compass and a couple of slots. What about on the trucks with the moonroof?

Here is the overhead console with the moonroof.
Buttons left to right are: left reading light, moon roof control, right reading light. The bottom button is the temp/compass mode button ( fahrenheit, celsius and off ).

Pros: It's fantastic.

Cons:..........I'm thinking, I'm thinking......hmmmm, you can leave it open and leaves will fall in the truck.

Only have 4200 miles on my truck, but think the Moonroof is a really cool feature, if I was getting another SCREW I would get the moonroof again.

For what it's worth I have a 95 Eddie Bauer Explorer with Moon Roof. 120K miles and it works perfectly and doesn't leak a drop. I wish I had it on my SuperCrew.

The moonroof is great, opens all the way, and really lights up the interior even when the glass is shut.
