Has anyone had a problem with the transmission linkage on their SC?? When I shift into drive the truck is still in neutral, I have to shift down into 2nd then back to Drive before the transmission engages? has anyone experienced anything similar? any ideas???

HAVEN'T HAD THAT PROBLEM OR HEARD OF IT. THE ONLY THINGS SO FAR ARE; A/C COMP MAKES A TICKING NOISE AND THE DAMN TRUCK WANDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD. FORD HAS ALIGNED THE FRONT AND IT HELPED SOME, BUT NOT TO MY LIKING. HEARD THAT THE TIRES MAY BE DOING IT.I'VE PLAYED WITH AIR PRESSURE BUT NO HELP. YOU NEED TO VISIT YOUR DEALER ON THE LINKAGE. THAT'S WAY OUT OF LINE !!

I did not have your identical problem with the transmission on my Supercrew but I did have a problem. When I shifted from reverse into drive the motor would shut off. This only happened three times all on the same day, but it triggered a service engine soon light that would not go out. The service manager said the error codes pointed towards the transmission and they thought the torque converter was locking up. They ended up replacing what I think they called the "hydrolic valve body". I am not a mechanic so don't flame me if my understanding of the service mangager's explanation does not make sense. But, I do know if you are having problems with the drive train it doesn't surprise me. I have had the entire rear axle assembly replaced and this part of the transmission replaced (all before I put 1000 miles on the truck). All the info about the axle can be found in the "noisy brakes" postings.
