I put a piece of cedar wood to cover the hole in the rear. The cd player will fit, although I don't have one in it. You'll be very pleased with the extra space of the bigger console, it looks great and the colors match perfect. All my friends think its a factory item. GOOD LUCK.

For those of you looking to perform the console transplant - pay attention to the year of the expy!

Newer expys did not have arm rests on the captains chairs. These consoles will not fit into the Screw. Ive also heard that cd changers wont fit in certain years either.

Be sure to check the other forums for this topic (its an old one).

I think that 1998 was the the most successful year. Or was it 97?

 

Expedition consoles from '97 to '99 will work. It is the 2000 consoles that are different. FWIW, a 2000 console will work, but you just can't use the armrests in the seat anymore. The console lid serves as the armrest in the 2000 Expy.

I checked with my dealer and he said 124.00 for a new 99 Expy console...now what do you do with the hole in the rear?

 

DR7, I dont think that price was for everything, there are probably 40 pieces to those consoles, when i looked at the dealer the price was getting up there pretty high to get all the pieces.. Do a search on Ebay for expedition console, the guy on there sells them for $89.

I have a 2000 console and the fit is perfect, with the armrests up and the seat all the way back, which is the way I drive. The 2000 console is bigger than older ones and colors match perfect. I like the looks and the hieght is great for armrest, also gobs of storage.

I'm sure you've mentioned it already...sorry for the repeat questions...

1. Where did you get your 2000 console from?

2. Was it new or out of a sold vehicle that was being modified?

3. How much did you pay?

4. You mention the console is fine with your armrests up and with the seat all the way back. I don't personally use the arm rest on the drivers seat, but I do tend to keep the seat closer to the dash and not all the way back. Does moving the seat closer to the dash cause a problem with the 2000 console?

Im sure 4Door will answer your questions, but all of the answers have been provided in other forums many, many times. This was a hot topic (just not in the Screw forum) throughout June and July.

I would give you a link to them, but I just dont feel like going back and looking for them right now. There have been a lot of pics and info posted.

My advice - go to a junkyard (should be lots of wrecked expys out there). Cost should be around 60 - 90 dollars for the complete unit.

As for ebay, some guy had a bunch of them - last month. I read posts that his stock had dwindled down to 'scratch and dent' units only.

 

maz, I got the console from LWM ent, in OK, phone# 405-360-7998 $90 plus $20 shipping. It is out of a used expy, but like new. The lid hits the armrests on the 2000 console if the seats aren't all the way back. You might go with the earlier console 98' or 99' they are narrower. GOOD LUCK

just wanted people to be careful when ordering a expy console from LWM make sure you ask the condition of the console before you order one. I received one today and besides the mud, rust and small scrapes it's not to bad. Going to call monday to see if I can get a replacement.I guess thats what I get for taking the easy way.

Mine was pretty dirty and has a few scratches but once I put some Armor-All onit it looked almost like new.

I would rather pay $90 for a used console than $600 from Ford for a new one!!

 

FYI for those looking for Expedtion consoles-
XLT console covers are vinyl-Eddie Bauer are
covered in leather(all model years).
