Question Ford financing?

Has anybody tried/used the Ford financing? My SuperCrew has arrived and I'm heading over to pick it up tomorrow. I'm already pre-approved with a loan at 8.25% for 36 months from my Credit Union, but the dealer just mentioned to me that Ford is offering 6.9% financing on the 2001 SuperCrew for 36 months. I know that automakers often offer either good financing or rebates, but the dealer didn't say anything about a rebate...

I called the dealer and asked about any fees or payoff penalties with the Ford financing and they said that there weren't any. Hmm?

I just thought I'd ask and see if anyone has had good or bad experiences with Ford financing.

Thanks!

Robnbuf,
Just got my Crew last month and used Ford Credit. 6.9 for 36 months or 7.9 for 48 or 60 months. I'v used Ford Credit many times with no problems. No pain involved for paying off early. I just payed off my wife's van early with no extra money for early payoff. Plus they have a great web site to track your payments and payoff.

Ditto on Ford Credit.

Great service!!! No problems whatsoever. About a month ago My check was lost in the mail. When I got the new statement it had late fees added. I called and explained what happened. They looked at my payment history on our car and truck and stated"since you're never late we are dropping the late fees" Cool!!

Great website as well.

We picked up our SuperCrew last Friday and went ahead and used Ford's 6.9% financing. We didn't have any troubles getting approved so hopefully all goes well. I confirmed with everyone that it's a simple interest loan with no early payoff penalties or fees. I only wish I could re-adjust the payment if I were to pay down the principal later on. Apparently that's not possible.

I also checked to see if there was a cash rebate instead of financing and there wasn't. Only financing.

Unhappy

robnbuf,

I agree with you on the not being able to reduce your payment policy. But my dealer did mention that you can apply money towards the principal which will shorten the length of your loan. That's better than nothing I guess.

We bought the wife's Explorer in September 1999 from Ford Credit at 2.9% and $500 rebate. Easy credit approval on Saturday. It took about two hours for approval and delivery.

We had planned to put a big cash down, but at 2.9% we decided to leave our money in the bank and put only $5000 down. Good deal I thought.

BUT!!!!

Can you get a $300 over invoice price WITH ford financing? That is the question. Hell
if you have to pay MRSP just to get 6.9% then you have gained nothing. Just wondering because I am about to purchase one and would like to get the 6.9% but at my price.

Alex

Second time on Ford Credit. No problems. Deal and Drive same afternoon on both vehicles (years apart). No regrets. Go for it! (P.S.: If you decide to Lease -- there's no BS on return -- all is handled by dealer. I traded in my '97 on the Y2K last NOVEMBER - and BANK ONE has still not released me from that lease - for which as part of the deal on the new Y2K the Dealer paid off the lease 3 months early.)

Be suspicious of Bank One. They screwed a friend -- and are screwing me -- Bank One Sucks!

I was pre-approved through my credit union @ 8.49%. When I walked into the dealer to pick up my Supercrew - I was told that Ford had come out with 7.9 financing. So I filled out a Ford Application, but had the dealer hold it until I could check back with the CU. When I did, the CU quickly lowered their rate 1/4% to 7.65. So, I went back to the dealer with a check and cancelled the Ford application. I have heard that CU's will negotiate like this to keep your business. Not a big difference, but every little bit helps!!

Alex,
Go for it. I did alot of homework in the San Diego area. I ended up getting my truck at Drew Ford. I went to Mossy, North County, Baker and College Ford. Drew gave me 1000 more for my trade and I paid 100 over in voice. I spoke with owner for about 20 min and he came in when I was dealing with the sales guru, said Rick gets this truck for 100 bucks over. I was loving the look on the sales guru face. I also used the 6.9 rate. Hell it made my day. Mr. Drew will take care of ya. Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions or want me to call him.

Ford's interest rate is saving me a whopping $1,400 below what my member-owned-we-love-you-very-much-Credit Union was willing to charge me.

That's a Bunch! (was a 5.9 apr promo at the end of '99)
