I've Got The VOPC Blues
Greetings Everybody,
This is my first post to the F-150 Online message board, though I have been reading it for the past few months. It is an honor and a privilege to be counted (soon?) among the ranks of SuperCrew owners. I've been a "clean and unscheduled" kinda guy since I ordered my truck on March 29. You guys have helped me to survive the wait. Through this message board, I discovered the VOPC, which I have been calling everyday. I was abso-friggen-lutely thrilled when I called this past Friday, May 12, and was informed that my order was "serialized and awaiting ETA". Yowza! However, I called again over the weekend, just to hear the wonderful news again, only to be told that my order is "in temporary delay status in production". Aaarrrgh! My dealer say's there's a problem with 5.4 L engine availability that will hopefully be resolved soon. Oh, the humanity! I'm going off the deep end with this wait. I also found out through this message board that you can download the SuperCrew owner's manual from the Ford owner's connection website. I printed mine out on my company's new color laser printer (when no one was looking) and put it in a nice 3-ring binder. I made cover inserts for the binder using Ford logo's and SuperCrew pictures from this website. My dealer wanted to know where I purchased this cool manual! An owner's manual is not the most exiting reading, but it's pretty damned good when you don't have your truck! On the floor of my living room, I lay out my Lund Trident bug deflector (very nice piece of hardware) and a Gibson stainless steel exhaust tip at the right distance back from the "hood", so that I can imagine the volume of the truck. Yes, my wife and son are well aware that Dad's losing it. I've rambled on enough. I know I'm crazy, but I also know that this group will understand. Thanks you guys. Just checked VOPC myself. Went thru normally with no mention of delays. I am scheduled for the same week as JScharton. Ordered 4/27 scheduled build - week of 5/22.

JScharton:
I ran into the same problem as you a few weeks before my actual build date - I couldn't get any info from the automated line - I was always transferred to a specialist. I did follow through one day, and just gave them the usual info - dealer #, order # - but you will need the VIN # of your unit if you decide to talk with them. Your dealer can provide this. If he's reluctant to provide it (he shouldn't be), just tell him you need it for estimating the insurance costs. Good Luck - it's worth the wait!! |
After reading your posts, I called VOPC today, and still have same message I have had since April 27. "scheduled to be built week of May 22". I also have the 5.4 engine. "Knock on wood", so far, no delays.

I feel your pain. Ordered March 17, and have been Scheduled for the week of May 22 since April 20. However, after reading your post, I tried to access VOPC - to see if I had a delay. Instead of giving me any "automated" updates, they are transferring me to a VOPC specialist. This has happened twice, today. Anyone know if we can/should speak to them (are customers supposed to know about the VOPC?) - of course, what are they going to do, cancel/delay my order out of spite? I hope things aren't delayed for me - it's already been a long time coming. I don't want to have to wait even longer... |
Ordered 4/20. As of 5/4 scheduled to be built week of 5/29. Just checked today and no changes. I ordered the 5.4L but no delays so far. FYI, I am a pilot and was in Kansas City. Called Ford trucks and was informed that two tone paint adds about a month to the build time. Go figure!!!

Finally got a build date, week of June 5! I ordered March 29. Based on other folk's experiences I've seen posted, I guess I should expect to take delivery around the 3rd week of June, so that'll be over 12 weeks. Sigh . . . At least I've got another month to clean out my garage.

Autoloadr,
My truck has a similar story...According to the VOPC, my truck had been "clean and unscheduled" since the order was placed. Just last week the status changed to "serialized and awaiting schedule and ETA" and then one day later it changed again to a "temporary delay status in production". ARGGHH!! I called the VOPC again last night and to my delight, the status was updated with a build date of June 5th for my truck!! Whooohoo! That stinks you've had to wait so long. I feel fortunate to have ordered at the end of April and already have a build date. Thanks for posting this information! ------------------ 2001 F150 SuperCrew 4x4 XLT, 5.4L, Oxford White w/Silver trim, Dark Graphite cloth, 60/40 bench, 17" 10-spoke wheels, power seat, cab steps, sliding window, tow package, remote key entry, CD changer, limited slip, bed extender Planned Mods: Line-X bedliner, bug shield, tonneau cover Ordered: 4/28 Build Date: 6/5 (from VOPC) Price: $500 over invoice Status: Waiting patiently [This message has been edited by robnbuf (edited 05-18-2000).] |
I figured that this was bad enough to post twice!!!
We received our confirmation from the dealer today in the mail. Looked great, except one minor detail. Ordered: Supercrew 2001 4X2 Confirm: Supercab 2001 4X2 Thanx, but no thanx. Oh well, one call later and a few laughs, we will wait for the confirmation. ------------------ ordered 4 May 2000 2X4, Lariat, 4.6L, Deep Wedgewood Blue and Gold, Moonroof, 6cd changer |
Hey robnbuf,
I'm glad you've got a build date too, same as mine, June 5th! Maybe our trucks will high-five each other (high-four?) as they move down the assembly line! Good luck. I ordered on April 24, yesterday the VOCC advised truck was sent by rail on May 16. One problem, I changed my mind on engines but order didn't catch it in time. This truck with the 4.6 should be in next week, dealer order another truck with a 5.4 and is scheduled to build week on 5/29. these two orders were placed just a few days apart, makes me think that maybe the 5.4 engines the holdup. I do know that all the van conversion/truck conversion upfitters have been cut off for Ford F150, 250, etc

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I ordered my Supercrew wedgewood blue tu-tone harvest gold Lariat w/5.4,auto 3.55ls on 4-15. Got built on 5-15 and the last time I called vpoc it was released to the carrier with delivery date 5-29. Mine was ordered on a priority 10.
