since you have the 5.4 you 99% of the time will have a 9.75 in the rear, so these gears will not work for you check and make sure but i am pretty sure you have a 9.75 rear, look under your truck if it kinda looks like a stop sign shape than you have the 9.75 if it is round then you have the 8.8.

I thought all F150s had an 8.8" rear differential. Am I mistaken?

4.6L get 8.8" and 5.4L get 9.75" except the 7700 payload package that got 10.25" axle.

No kidding? Why'd Ford do that? I though the 9.75" axle was a heavy duty thing, like on the Super Duties. Is the 9.75" rear end more durable than the 8.8"?

Question

Is there any way to visually determine for sure? I thought they had the 8.8"s also......
Plus, what gear ratio do these run stock?

Read my earlier post. If you have the 4.6L, you have 8.8" If you have the 5.4L, you have a 9.75" read gear.

Read your driver's door sticker for the Axle code.

1997-2003 F-150 axle codes:

19 = 3.55 open
H9 = 3.55 LSD
26 = 3.73 open
B6 = 3.73 LSD
27 = 3.31 open
18 = 3.08 open
25 = 4.10 open
B5 = 4.10 LSD
