What's The Difference???????????
i have a '03 supercrew xlt..... ok i want to know what is the difference between a harley-davidson ans mine. im talking about the engine. and how different are they...... if there is how can i make it like the harley or better.
The 2003 HD has a different transmission, rear end, a supercharger on the engine and the appropriate modifications to engine to support the supercharger like lower compression. It would take a lot of money to get the exact powertrain as the HD, but there are aftermarket superchargers that will get similar power numbers.
I agree. If you want a supercharger, it will be much, much easier to go with an aftermarket unit.
ok cool thanks. what if just what if i put a lightning motor on it well on my supercrew. is it better than what i have now or is it plain stupid.
The Harley engine and the Lightning engine are almost identical. You can do the swap, but it would be a lot, lot cheaper and about a million times easier to install an aftermarket supercharger and get the same results.
What are you trying to accomplish? Are you going to race tracks? Are you trying to brag about having a Lightning motor or just having 400+ hp?
Set your goals first, then work on a plan to get there. it might be chaper to sell your truck and buy a used HD if the cost delta is reasonable. |
i was just asking what the difference first. and i dont like the H-D i like a full back seat you know. i just want my truck to be fast but not too fast. just some balls u know what i mean. well what im really doing is changing the interior to red and black. leather seat, paint job, put a new exhaust kit and maybe a sun roof. oh yeah and a system. man thats alot. well yeah thats it.

I'm sure it would be chaeaper and quicker (time wise) to find a HD F-150, find a regular Sueprcrew back seat from a junk yard and get it upholstered to match the HD interior than all those mods to an XLT F-150. Unless there are many other things you don't like about the HD.
If you just want some balls, try a rear diff gear swap to a 4.56:1 ratio keeping the stock tire size. $500 installed for 2wd. That would be similar to adding about 28% more power which isn't far off a supercharger. |
