Getting ready to plunk down some money on a new Lariat SCrew and wanted to know if any changes are in line for 06 models?

06' 6.5 ft bed

Does it change the wheelbase? I would like to have the 6.5 ft bed, but would like to keep the same turning radius.

Is this true that the fogs will be round or is it a chopped picture of what Ford might do. I have seen the 06 order guide and it doesn't list the round fogs as a change for the year model?

Talked with our local Ford dealer and he mentioned the chrome package was available for sure, along with some new wheel options, and said other changes would be minor.

Too, I have read here and on other places about the 6.5' bed being available in December, but not sure if it would be worth the longer turning diameter for me.

The fog lights will be round to match the Ranger and what the SUVs are. I can't decide if it looks better or not. The bottom bumper is also a little different, (that chrome on the top of the bottom opening)

As we are planning a 4X2 06 purchase in the fall, I would also like to know about "traction assist" and mechanically how it differs from limited slip or must limited slip be ordered now with traction assist?

Mike - Traction Assist is what Ford calls traction control which is electronically controlled working with the ABS system. If a wheel begins spin/slip, the brake on that wheel is applied to stop the spin - if the brake can't override the spin, then the ECU will begin to shut off fuel to engine cylinders until the wheel spin is arrested.

Whereas, limited slip is a function of the "traction lock" rear differential....my '05 GT Mustang has both and I was surprised it was not offered on the '05 loaded Lariat.....

Hey Bd - is this an actual pic of the '06 or a "Rendering"?? I like that new bumper and already have the LT handles/Mirrors on my '05 Black Lariat.....wonder if that bumper is interchangable with an '05??

It is obviously a rendering. Look at the two side mirrors, one is chrome and the other is black. That appears to be a photoshop job, and a pretty good one.
