Question Bed Extender Help

I have a 2003 Screw. A co-worker had the same model and traded it in on an 04. Before he gave it to them he pulled his cargo extender off andgave it to me.

He told me I need two screw/washers that go into the sides of the bed to mount it. I just bought two of these (FMC-W7073812900).

Here is the problem, they are threaded and the holes in the side of the bed are not. Do these thread themselves, or did the part guy give me the wrong part?

Please help.

Unhappy Bed Extender

I noticed that about the threading of the mounting holes too. I kept my bed extender from my 2003 SCrew thinking I could just put it on my 2004.

Well, the 2004 Bed is huge and my 2003 extender looks silly (like it came from a SportTrac) when I set it up in the bed of the 2004.

The holes in the 2004s aren't threaded either and I was wondering how they do that during the installation (tap & die maybe???).

Now, I have a 2003 Bed Extender that I don't know what to do with (Ebay??) and a 2004 FX4 with no bed extender. I would have tried to get the dealer to throw an extender in, but I thought I had that base covered.

I added an OEM bed extender on my 01 back when I first bought it and had to obtain the same part that you're describing (although I can't remember the exact P/N).

I can tell you with confidence that I didn't have to use a tap and die to thread the hole but, on the flip side of that, I can't remember if it was pre-threaded either.

If I can remember, I'll pull one of my mounting pins out and see how it mounts today if that could help.

Talking

The screws will tap themselves. Just make sure you start the screws straight. They will be hard to turn. For my truck I had used a impact gun.

Haven't heard from you in a while. Did you ever calculate shipping? Still have it?

Thanks!
