I thought about doing this myself. I know the Explorer Sport Trac comes with one from the factory, if you can find one at the bone yard. Another option may be to put in an auxillary one. I bought two different kinds from Vato-zone when I put one in my boat. They've got one that's a stand alone unit with an integrated braket that you screw/bolt down, and one that you drill an approximately 1 inch hole in a panel, and it attaches to the panel, so that only about 1/2" sticks out from it. I used the second option, as I had a spare panel on the dash of my boat. Both options are sealed to the weather, so they'd probably work well in your bed.

Oh, and I think I paid less than $20 for both of them.

Here's mine. I put in an outlet and a switch for the light under my tonneau cover. It's hard to see in the picture, but the outlet is on the right (it has a cover over it) and the light switch is on the left. You can also see the pin switch for my alarm near the top of the pic.

I second the question Rob. What circuit did you tie it to so that the plug is 'hot' at all times? That really seems like a functional mod.

If you want it Hot at all times, you are looking at having to run a fused circuit from the battery.

If you want it hot in run position, and have the factory HD trailer plug, pin 5 ( orange with a green stripe ) is hot in run position for the battery for the trailer.
That is about all I can find that would be something you could tap for additional usage.

good luck

Looks like the same one I put in the boat, you can get them at Auto Zone, Walmart, etc.
