small issues

Really enjoying all your posts. Learning a lot. Love my truck. (hubby drives the car) Get a lot of turning heads driving my '98 black supercab. People can't believe I bought a truck much less a ford F150. Never owned a ford always chevy. Do have a few of the issues you all have talked about. Bought the rig from a used car dealer 1/10th of a mile away. He does okay by me but I don't always trust his mechanics. So I have my own.

Back window seal is one issue. Fixed once and it helped but still needs adjusting.

Radio didn't work when truck was first started a couple of times but that seems to be okay now. Could hear it but led didn't light and you couldn't change anything.

Now the right signal is wierd when it's cold out. One post suggested a too short whip since it does happen when the tilt is all the way down.

Speedometer acts up once in awhile and has been cleaned once and was okay but doing it again, okay when cold then dies and then when completely warmed up usually okay.

Starter issues were corroded conections and that was taken care of. Pretty normal for purchasing a used truck with 88,000 miles on it.

I've only put $15 in it so far. My mechanic changed a hose clamp and the dealer did an oil change.

I also have box squeek in the springs I believe.

Of course there are a few minor surface chips on it, I want to have the surface done and maybe clearcoated again. Whoever owned it took care of it but used a buffer and even thought the paint is shiny in the right light you can see the swirls. Any ideas?
FYI: I prefer furniture polish but you have to buff it good and do not put it on in the heat or sun. Every vehicle I owned had 15 years on them and still looked like new, no rust. The pledge gets into every little spot and no white residue. And acts like rainx on the glass. But tell your body shop if you have work done because it requires a lot of cleaning to make spot work stick. Mine had to use gas to get it off. But the pledge doesn't get rid of the swirls. But does make them less noticable.

Had the oil changed and now I have very small leak at the rear of the truck. Mechanic cleaned and cleaned the area and couldn't get it to do it. I drove it a couple days and its back. We are hoping the dealer just spilled oil during the change. But if any of you have had this issue please enlighten me. My mechanic told me to take everything apart and get at what his asumption is will be labor intensive.

Still like the truck. Do need the mud flaps your suggestions are? Also want to do some customizing.

Heading for the 100,000 mile mark what normal maintenace should be done?

I can't really answer any of your questions...but I have to say this...

You are like the perfect woman! I always wanted a truck "chick" who knew what to do when things go wrong...Too bad I can't find any decent ones out here in CO. HAHA! Anyway not trying to hit on you or embarass you but you rock!
