Chevy's finally trying to answer to Screw

GM is supposed to start building a crew cab 1500 model with a 5ft 8" box in January 2004. You think it took them long enough to notice that Screws were successful?

Sad to say....I kinda like it.

On a side note...My brother in law just got a brand new 2003 Chevy 1500 ext. cab. Overall its a really nice truck, it rides really quite. I like it....In fact Im kinda jealous.:p Mainly because his is a v8 and mines a slow ass v6.

I do not like the looks off that. :(

The current and new F150 look way better. :rocker:

It sure doesn't look as good as a screw. I haven't seen a 2004 yet, so I don't know how it compares to them.

I wonder how much it cost to Helicopter the truck in. Is that carpet under the tires?

Doesn't look too bad, but honestly I dont care for the Chevy's.

They are too light duty and feel cheap IMO. When I step on the bumper of a Silvy, the bumper falls a significant amount. Step on the bumper of my F150, and it doesnt drop at all.

You know...

Some of the things I absolutely hate about the chebies nowadays are those uglyaze front ends and those God awful antenna roof mounts for all the BS they keep craming in like onstar and XM.

Yes, I say craming in because any manufacturer that would send a production model down the line with those stupid looking things on the roof is just plain lazy, stupid or both!! My XM antenna looks a helluva lot better than that and I did it myself. You'd think they (GM) would make an antenna that not only matches the color of the paint (at least somewhat), but also to where it's not sitting there looking like a zit on a teenagers face! It's got to add some wind noise also...

Fugly... That's about all I can say about that....

Wanna know how I really feel about it???

Chevy S'crew?

I like the looks, also. The thing which would make it good for me would be the weight. If it is "lighter" than my '02 S'crew, it might be a candidate for pulling behind my motorhome. Chevy 4x4s can be pulled "4down" w/o a driveshaft disconnect. I just have not gotten used to the look of the new front end!

That's not a look I want to get used to!! :D :D

and you ain't got no alibi.

GearHead_1 Aug 20, 2003 08:57 PM

How's it go? Imitated but never duplicated. :D

J-150 Aug 21, 2003 12:55 PM

This is the problem with GM. People just wanted a 1/2 ton crew cab. Instead of just buildiong it, they decide on that Avalanche monstrosity with the cheap plastic panels on it.

This should have been their SuperCrew and the Av should have just been called the Tahoe SportTrac (or whatever GM equivalent)

Rockpick Aug 21, 2003 04:11 PM

I just don't like the look of the front clip. It looks like it's raising it's eyebrows...hehehehe

I'm sure it's a dandy truck.... I'll stick with my one-fiddddy though.

RP :D

jeeptrick4 Aug 22, 2003 12:18 AM

It looks like a Nissan Frontier on cheap Tijuana steroids :bandito:. The hood does not transition well into the windshield or cab, and the cab looks a little disproportinate................................... ......................................and stuff.

dcovell Aug 22, 2003 12:19 PM

I like the Ford looks better in most respects and I do think that GM is ahead of the game on the engine technologies and drivetrains. Ford is much better with the interiors in my opinion.

So what we need to to get them together and build the ultimate truck!
