Update Update
Ok im considering a 4x2 now. After driving the 4x2 I just think it drives much smoother. Besides what do I need 4x4 for.
New price out the door 24000 Lariet 4x2 5.4l 3.55 etc etc. same truck as before. What ya think? Tom |
Well I agree with you, if you don't have a need for a 4x4 it's a waste of money in the extra $3000 something it adds to the sticker, the extra gas you will use, and your insurance will be higher.
I personally use a 4x4 because I go offroad once in a while (not as often as I would like) and I like being taller. |

In North alabama it only snows maybe once a year, MAYBE. Just cant justify the extra money for the looks. Besides the 4x2 still sits up higher than my ranger.
It drives really smooth too. Tom |
The look of the 4x4 is exactly why I bought a Lariat and a 3" body lift that I installed myself for $150. The only major difference in appearance are slightly different tires (Same rims as Lariat 4x4 back in 2001, but tires are a little shorter in stance), and fog lights on the front bumper.
Anyone who looks real close may notice, but it definitely gives you back 90% of the 4x4 improved looks. Point of story is that I didn't need 4x4 in Texas, didn't want to pay $3K more for worse gas mileage and more things that could break, but I wanted the look. Bill |
