Computer (PCM) repair or replacement after blown coil pack damage
Hey folks, It's been a really long time since I posted but need some advice from the experts.
Last year I was towing home my boat and stopped in at a gas station when I noticed my trailer lights were out.
I turned off the engine (did not get gas) and then turned it on and found that I had no power and 2 codes popped up (SES light and I have a reader).
One code was an emissions solenoid and the other was transpack-B. Also, the engine was misfiring.
I replaced the emissions solenoid and the code did not go away.
I replaced all the plugs and all of the coils with TR6's and Ford OEM coil packs (genuine motorcraft) but the misfire did not go away.
This all leads me to believe that a coil did go bad and it damaged the PCM.
I've read that this is more common than not so I need to figure out how to pin-point it to the PCM, fix the PCM (hopefully), or get a new PCM with my factory code (SNL3) and then be able to reprogram it with my special tune.
As with most/all of you, I have a lot of mods in this engine and a stock flash will not work.
If there is a thread already covering this -thanks for the pointer.
