Supercharging a 2007 F150 FX4 (5.4)
Sup folks,
Im coming from the svt cobra world (supercharged 4.6's). Thanks for your help in advance.
OK the truck in question is a 07 F150 FX4 w/ 37"s (8" lift). Engine has 28,xxx miles on it or so.
Assuming I made the decision to build the motor - what kind of setup options would I have to make sure I am squared away from a dependability standpoint, but have more then enough power for the 37"s
Im thinking 500-550+ bhp, which would probably equate to 420 rwhp or so with the tires?
A roots blower setup is my first thought, with fuel injectors, TB, etc. - but aside from that Im pretty green with this engine (even though its modular).
- Do I need to forge/strengthen the bottom end for a roots setup + strain on drivetrain from lift/tires?
- Is the trans and t. case good to go with that much more power, or should all of that need attention as well?
Not quite looking for an earth rotator, but something with plenty of tow power and longevity.
Thanks dudes

Welcome.
Do what I did and find a second hand Roush kit for under a grand. Simply rape parts from the lightning guys and you have a blown F-1 fiddy for little money. Roush claimed 450 HP from the IC kit which ain't to shabby.
No built motor required for stock / low boost either. Some guy called Matt on here is running 450rwhp or close to it on a Roush charger.

It would be easier to list the parts missing.
I can link you to the eBay page for the "Cry BS crew"

The Roush blower for the 04-08 was a M112. Finding one with the manifold for $911 is an amazing deal and not likely to happen again. For the power the OP wants he would be better served by the Whipple. MattFX4 had a Roush on his 4wd. He ran 10psi, longtube headers, efans, etc, plus had the blower /intake ported stage three to get 420rwhp. Not knocking it all. Matt had one hell of a truck. However this power level can be more easily achived with the Whipple without the fuel detonating heat from the Roush.

Blackreef I am pushing mine at 475rwhp on my street tune with no issues. The key is tuning and cooling for both the trans and engine. Frequent fluid/filter changes combined with 93oct gas from valid suppliers like BP (my fav) and Shell.
Get a Whipple, long tube headers, 39 or 42lb injectors, and the 10psi kit (pulley with 95mm maf housing). Tuning by Troyer or Crash (though I haven't had experince with him yet). He seems to know his stuff. Other than his love affair with ProCharger he is right on target with stuff. I guess we all have our flaws
Anyway this setup will put you where you want to be. And not to cut ole Crash out but the Whipple kits do come up for sale used all the time. Looking $3000-3500 for a complete kit.
