Build Whipple 3V

Howdy!

I troll on occasion but don't have time to play on forums. I thought I would post up my build since I just got it off the dyno.

The engine is a 3V:
- forged rods and pistons (~8.8 CR).
- Multi-angle valve job with Comp Stage 2 VSR cams.
- 39#/hr injectors
- 10 PSI kit
- longtubes
- true duals with x-pipe.
- boost-a-pump

Assembling new engine

I was really surprised with the hp and especially the torque this thing made.

10 psi dyno
Sorry for the picture. My scanner is not working. My first question was why the torque dropped so fast until I realized how high the torque was at the peak. I have searched other whipple dynos and have not seen this high of peak torque for ~450 hp. What the ...!

While getting the dyno done, a guy showed up with parts for his 2015 Mustang project. He told me he also have an 04 Silver F150. Damn! It was Fatherford in the flesh! He has 2 nice projects sitting at HPP at the same time. I had actually seen his truck with the Vortec setup at HPP back in 04 when I was there with my Mach1.

I bought a used engine to rebuild in June 2009. I found out later in the month that my wife was pregnant with our second. 5 years, another business, and another kid, and the truck is running strong!

Beautiful.

Have the blower ported & polished and it might hold more later in the RPM.

Tell us more about the build?

EDIT: Don't worry about it, I found your other thread.

Dam, your build is like mine (Taking / Took forever)

That's super impressive! Link to the other thread?

Pleasure meeting you sir!

Awesome truck, still having fun with it? Gut the cats?

He is only running 10psi, I suggested a fuel system, bigger injectors, and smaller upper or bigger lower. I think though he will have lots of fun as it currently sits for quite a while.

Upgraded to the larger whipple MAF?

10lb is a little low considering the amount of work done to the motor. He only has 8.8CR but static CR will be higher. Mines only 8.2CR or summit bit will be allot higher @ 15-20psi depending on fuel.

Brain_Mach1 01-31-2015 09:54 PM

I wanted the CR higher but my attorney/uncle and his preferred machinist insisted I go under 9:1. They are old school guys. The attorney/uncle insisted I just add more boost.

I am running a larger MAF from Whipple. I have 3 kids, 2 businesses, and other hobbies so I go slow with this stuff. I hope to add a fuel system and more boost. I pre-clearanced the front cover for an oversized damper.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...129ecf1d9c.jpgI trimmed around the crank sensor and the post above the crank to make sure an 18% lower balancer will fit.

Fatherford, I will get to the cats shortly. I have some broken equipment at work and hired a young guy to help me. This might free up time to work the truck more and resolve my rattling muffler. Dynomax VT mufflers suck at idle but are nice in the highway.

Busting my index finger makes it hard to work on equipment and makes concealed carry useless.

I also have to rebuild my differential (I can do great one wheel burnouts now) before I do anymore fun mods.

The truck will never be done, but I have more fun each year as I tweak more stuff.

Looks good, great attention to detail.
