600 WHP on a 3V?

I see that some of the guys on this site are running as much as 12 psi of boost and making high 400's for horsepower. how much would it take to get to 600 horsepower at the wheels? cams? built bottom end of course, port and polish work? just curious thanks for the information

Well most guys at 12psi are on "safe" tunes to keep the motor together. For 600rwhp I would do a forged bottom end, cnc heads with larger valves, stronger springs, blower custom grind cams, whipple blower at around 15psi, built trans and driveshaft, upgraded fuel system, header back true dual 2.5" or 3" exhaust. Good tires and a fat wallet

What he said.

Don't forget the killer chiller :)

would water/meth injection help it too? 600hp on one of these f150's would be a pretty fun thing to do

IR0NS1N 08-04-2012 04:18 PM

Water/Meth is good if you have a great Meth kit, spot on tune designed for it and a tune for if you run out of Meth. However, a great heat exchanger and ported twinscrew blower can be just as good. Meth is the best on non intercooled roots blowers

A built engine with custom cams ford boost and portted heads and a whipple @ 20 psi should be awesome :) that's the rout I would go if I ever install my whipple.

Custom grind cams for boost.

Almost all the built lightnings with a 2.3 whipple make 600+ rwhp,
if u want 600+ I would give team JDM a call I'm sure they can get you that and more if
you want.

Just do like that other feller and throw a 4v in, he's making over 600whp

Ross-FX4 08-28-2012 12:44 AM

Cannot see why a 5.4 3v wouldn't make well over 600RW.

Forged bottom end and enough boost.

Lots of 3v's make over 1000rwhp....

I know JDM has done a few saleen blown setups over 700rwhp

Modular Mustang Racing might be able to help you as well if you are looking for a motor than can handle that kind of abuse. Don't forget the transmission and differential will probably need some work too.

Yeah I spoke to JDM about a tune an they seem to know allot about the 3v.

So forged bottom end, uprated valve springs should be good for 500RW easy.

Do you really need a NASCAR shopping list for 600RW?

I wouldn't be to worried about the tranny & rear end. Not like I do burn out's or 1/4 mile runs. I will leave that for the Ricers.

twinskrewd 08-28-2012 02:20 PM

You better worry about them at that power level. Clutches will fry during shifts thanks to the torque and you will plow through the stock torque converter as well. (A stock torque converter has to lock up around 65-68mph to keep from burning it up with 400rwhp.) You will also be in rear axle twisting territory not to mention the drive shaft which twist up around 450rwtq. You don't have to do burn outs or 1/4 mile runs just pushing the gas to the floor will do it. I can do burnouts from 30mph with my mods. I can't imagine having an extra 100hp/100tq at the wheels. The engine will need better valves (stock ones melt at 1515F), valve springs, and ported heads to be efficent. Better radiator for cooling, 3" true dual exhaust, fuel system, 60lb injectors, SCT BA 5000 MAF sensor.
