OK who's doing their own tuning?

The truck is an 01 SC 5.4L with the L swap. So I am convinced that I am going to upgrade to long tube headers. At this point I will need another tune. Troyers great but I cannot wait the five to six weeks he has quoted as his lead times. So I have been thinking about doing my own tunes. I have installed and will re install the FAST digital O2 gauges so I have real time O2 data. Access to a dyno is pretty simple as well.

To those that have done your own tunes, what did you start with as a base? Obviously the original tune for the truck is without a supercharger. Did you get a Lightning tune and go from there or ??? How much time should I expect to devote to getting the truck running?

I tune mine using the SCT's Advantage 3.
My dealer furnished a starter tune which I adjusted to fit with maf tuning, shift pressure, etc. Not all dealers will furnish a starter tune, and that's OK too, but starting from scratch takes more time.

Don will provide tunes and re-writes overnight should the software not work for you.

I'm using Advantage too. Justin Starkey with VMP Tuning will also get you a starter tune.
