Vortech Supercharger Noise!

I just installed a Vortech V-2 SQ-Trim supercharger on my '97 F150 4.6 and am concerned with the noise the supercharger makes at idle. It sounds like there is a bad bearing that is barely noticeable until the supercharger warms up. Once you give it gas it goes away. I know that the supercharger has a slight gear wine but this is something different.
Any help would be appreciated!

would be smart to call the supplier or the manuf of the equipment. think they will know more then the message board.

I would check your air intake tube and check the oil to see if there is any metal shavings in there. I am not saying that the blower is blowing up but it is worth checking out oil is cheap and yanking the intake tube off is easy enough. You can also pull the belt off and see how easy it to turn. just some ideas. But I would call Vortech and see what they have to say.

I spoke with the Tech support at Vortech and they said that what I am hearing is the gear lash in the supercharger. At idle the there is air pulsing that is happening causing the supercharger gears to rattle. This can be fixxed by messing with the air inlet or exhaust ducting.
It ort of makes sense since when it is cold and the engine is idling higher there is no rattle.
I also have the Pro M MAF that could be letting the air come in to easily at idle and causing an opposite air pulse.
I'm not sure but I am going to try putting on the Vortech supplied MAF.
He said that as long as it goes away once the gas is applied that everything is ok!

Good to hear that the blower is working correctly.

The supercharger sounds fine when rotated by hand with the belt off.
There is also nothing restricting the air inlet.
I'm going to call Vortech Tech support today and see what they have to say. I will also disconnect the Oil line this evening and make sure that there are no restrictions. I have disconnected it at the supercharger and there is nothing cloging the filter and there is definately oil up there.
It seems weird because it sounds fine once you are applying the gas, and it is making plenty of power.

Yes, if you rotate it by hand, you would be able to feel rough bearings.

If anything had been ingested by the blower, the impeller would be trashed. There should be no metal inside the case.

Are you sure you get oil pressure to the unit?

Do any of you know the email address or how to contact any other listers that have the Vortech with the 4.6?
I'd like to speak with them about how theres sounds and works!

Thanks
Bernie
