Want to go lower
After doing a 2/4 drop I'm now thinking I want to go lower, not much just another 1". Currently I have 2" drop spindles and 4" hangers/shackles. I found a set of '01 Lightning coils that should lower me another 1" - 1.5". Trying to find a set of L leafs, but having no luck yet. Anyone know of aftermarket stock leaf replacements for Lightnings? or someone who makes a 1" lowering leaf spring?
Would a 5 - 5.5" rear drop require me to notch the frame or will it be fine as is? |
You could also get the jlp shackles they drop the rear 3".

Didn't know they made 3" drop shackles and that's a good option. The thing is, one of my stock leafs has lost some of its tension and I need to replace both leafs now, since I have to replace them I would rather try to find lowering leafs. I'm only seeing 3" and 4" ones though.

Anything beyond 5" would need a notch unless you like bucking..lol

Anyone know the specs on stock leafs? I've been looking at SDtrucksprings.com and comparing leafs. According to them a stock replacement has a spring capacity of 1,500 lbs and an arch of 8 3/4" with 3 leafs and an overload. They also sell a 2 leaf w/ an overload spring rated at 1,434 lbs and an arch of 7 15/16". That's 7/8" difference in arch, would that spring bring me close to the 1" rear drop I'm after? I'm thinking the 2 leaf spring will be stiffer since its capacity is not to far off from a 3 leaf. Would that affect ride quality?
