Steeda Motorsports - Project Introduction
Greetings from Steeda Autosports
Welcome to the Steeda 2005 SEMA Project Forum. We’re excited to be partnering with the web’s premiere Ford Truck Site, F150online.com in this project, and we’re looking for your input in developing this project vehicle, which will be showcased in the Ford Display at the SEMA Show this November.
With our road-racing heritage, this truck will represent the Steeda Autosports brand while taking advantage of our expertise. We envision a lowered truck with distinctive style, better aerodynamics, improved road manners and increased horsepower.
The truck we received from Ford is a 2005 F-150 XLT Regular Cab 4X2 Flareside, with the stout 5.4L Triton 3V EFI V8 engine and 4 Speed Automatic. We welcome your feedback on our initial design as well as your suggestions. The photo below for is for folks with PhotoShop skills who would like to contribute their own renderings, and we'll regularly check the posts in the forum, and have our designers render the best of those suggestions as well.
With that, we turn things back over to you. Thanks in advance to all who participate!

The front kind of looks like the new Dodge. I tried photoshopping this up in a non-PS program and it looks kinda bad. I was thinking though, lowered (not all the way though), even out the rear end with the front, paint both bumpers red. Keep the painted calipers but on them write 'STEEDA.' Add red-painted-to-match door handles/tailgate handle too.
Looks cool as is it has the old hot rod look to it low front end raised up back end needs an exhuast system and some cool looking rims to complet the package.

Here is my 2 cents worth...
Big wheels
Lowered
Supercharger – Vortech (!?)
Cat-back side exit OR take a big step and go with outsiders
interior trim pieces, pedals, gauges, trim, etc..
Shaker hood? Or make a hood cowl like on Steda's new Q car
grille or billet grill
Hard tonneau option
rear tail gate spoiler
Side fender vents
tuner
No back bumper, install a roll pan
navigation system

yay or nah?

If you need to know what it's supposed to be just ask.
The black thing before the rear tire is NASCAR style exhaust.
I was also thinking of a Ram air in the center with cowl hood type thing.
The front bumper needs three openings, the center is the width of the front grill and then two outside ones.

Great Going, Gang!
This is just the sort of feedback we were hoping to get on this project! There are a lot of good ideas here in just our first week online. Distinctly different schools of design are represented; a couple of hot rod inspired designs from bishopsales, and lifeguardjoe's road-race ready rig. One common element in all three submissions is a dramatic reduction in ride height.
Ride height is probably the first, most critical decision you get to make on any truck project. It will affect both appearance and handling, and the choices you make will determine what parts you’ll need to use to achieve your goal, or in this case, in how the parts themselves should be designed. And so we ask the time-honored question:
To help visualize the range of options available, here’s a slide show which rotates through three separate stances: Stock (a quick trip out to the shop showed the gap between tire and body to be about 6” inches up front, and about 9.5” out back), Level (where we simply lowered the rear end by approximately 3.5”), and Dropped (about 3” in front and 6.5” out back). What do you think? Should we drop it further, or have we gone too far already? Let us know your thoughts on the right ride height.

I think dropped is too low, especially with aftermarket wheels etc. Looks too "ricey" for big ol'e truck. I say 4.5" rear, 1" front because it wasn't an option
and I think it'd look/handle REAL well.

Just a few quickies, first one is wtih the back lowered down to level it, second one is obviously lowered all around. I guess I havent even messed with the wheels or paint or anything major yet (been talkin w/ people on MSN messenger and kept gettin sidetracked). Pretty much all Iv done in those so far was tinted windows, painted bumpers, molded roll pan, bed cover, shaved handles and antenna, and clear corners.
Once I get more time and less distractions Ill get workin on it more.
