Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm looking for some new speakers for my truck. I have a 02 lariet supercrew, with the 6disc in the back, so I have the bigass face. I want to try and keep the stock face and cd changer, but get better speakers. I have no clue what size or what I need, or how hard they are to change. I was looking to spend around $400cdn for speakers.

If you are looking for head unit powered only (no aftermarket amplifier), go with Pioneer 6x8's. Much better sounding than stock, and you should pick up a little bass. Best bang for the buck, and they are a direct swap. Good luck!

How much more do amps run$$? What is the advantage of running an aftermarket amp? I'm probally going to get this done at a car radio shop. Cause I have no clue to what I'm doing, I just want better sound .

Now this is something I know first hand!
I have had the pioneer 6X8's replave the factory and then replaced them with memphis.(i knnow I sound like a broken record). The pioneers sounded very flat. I replaced them with memphis 5x7's I have the head unit pushing them and they sound awsome. Don't get a car audio place to put door speakers in! They will charge you an arm and a leg! Let me know I will get you some pics of how to do it. I have done it about 6 times. Let me know. I'll reply to your other post tonight when I get home.

are those sony xplode speakers anygood?? How hard is it to install, do they just plug in where the stock ones do? or do I have to rewire.

crockett59 12-04-2002 02:05 PM

I don't know if sony has any 6x8 or 5x7 speakers. I DON"T like the way they sound.:( The speakers are cake to install. All that you need is some flat male conecters to push into the plugs.

Should I use the stock wiring harness, or use a rca one? Also does the stock face have an rca outlet, or would I need a new face? If I need a new face don't I need a kit, cause there will be a big gap, cause the stock face is twice the size of an aftermarket. So I need 2-6x8 & 2-5x7 speakers?

also do I want 2way or 3 way? And how many watt speakers can I get before I need an amp?

WHOA!

Okay here goes, You will have to go with a 6X8 or a 5X7 as funny as it sounds they are both the SAME. 5X7 has a slotted hole for better alignment. You can go with either a 3way or a 2way. I have 2ways in my truck now, I took out my pioneer 3 ways.

What do you mean by face?

will any 6x8 fit in the front and back? The face/head, the in dash thing.

I've done to my SuperCrew pretty much what you are describing in your post. I've used Infinity Kappa's 5X7's and couldn't be happier.

crockett59 12-05-2002 05:59 AM

The stock head unit doesn't have an RCA preout. You would need an Aftermarket head unit. You can run the After market speakers with the Factory head unit and it will sound OKAY. If you get a Aftermarket Headunit it will sound better. You will us 6X8-5X7 speakers all the way around.

And I will need an amp if I get speakers that can put out more juice then the face will supply?

Does anyone know if there is a big difference in sound between the Infinity Reference and the Kappas? Maybe Gearhead has advice on this since you have the Kappas. I am wondering if it is worth spending the extra money for the Kappas. I have an '02 Supercrew and will be using the stock receiver. I need 4 - 5x7's right???
