Shallow Mount Driver Comparison's
 

I'll start this with saying I'm almost set on SI BM Mk3's, but my dealers have never heard of them(which is fine with me) and keep telling me "oh get the JL's" or now I've had a dealer say "Oh wait for the new Alpine".

So for those of you who have heard them, how do the JL shallow mounts compete with the SI's?

My dealer rep is offering me a set of Hertz Mille MLK2's, and 5.1k for a pretty killer deal(they're out of his car with full factory warranty).. I was previously planning on doing Scanspeak Illuminator D2004 tweeters, with 7" Revelators, and 2 SI BM Mk3's, all on a Audison Lrx 5.1k running active. I'm still thinking of running the Scanspeaks, with his amp tho.. I'm up in the air about it, but I need to make a decision before he pulls his car in for the winter. So what I'm trying to say is, SQ means MUCH more than SPL to me.. I can make almost anything loud with power and box... But I can't make "almost anything" clean.. I auditioned a Mille sub in a car yesterday and was completely in love with how clean it was, even when played LOUD...

5.1K would be a good amp to run with.

The JL is not a bad sub, but it will not move as much air as the BM's.

I would prefer the Scan's, but in the end you have to listen to it. If you like it, rock it.

You wont have enough airspace under the rear seat for 2 JL tw5s, but you will for 2 BMs. Not to mention the JL is twice as expensive and you get less performance in both clarity and overall output. A guy I know locally is using 2 BMs in his SQ setup and has won 5 first place finishes and 1 second place finish in MECA this season.
