Memphis shallow with Rockford amp - this proper setup?
 

I had a kicker sub that sounded good up until recently so I decided to grab a new Memphis SClass 12 dual 4 ohm coil sub for a replacement. I need to grab a different amp to run the sub but for now I have a 4 channel rockford that I'm running my front component speaks and sub off.

Can you tell me if I have this properly set based on the specs?

I hope I provided enough details for everyone to provide the best wiring or agree on how I have it wired now. The reason why I ask is it seems the sub has a ton of play but after further inspection the box seems to have some air leaks so I have stripped the carpet, sanded and I'm going to grab some resin/fiberglass and seal it up then recarpet it.

NO! Bridging the amp at 2 ohm is going to damage it! Run the rear channels in stereo (one channel to each voice coil).

There is no other way of doing it? Running it straight hardly gives me any power to the sub.

Of course, as I said, I know I need a dedicated amp for my sub and I'm wheeling and dealin with a few folks on craigslist now.

Sall is right, when I first got my 10" kicker I hooked it up to my old kenwood PS-150 and that old kenwood amp could not keep up with the power demands of the 10" kicker and it kept popping fuses. Just wait until you get an amp that can handle the sub.

I should be looking for something that is bridgeable (2 channel) and at least 300 RMS (speaker handles 500 RMS) at 2 ohm if I decide to wiring it as shown above. If not then 4ohm with 150-200 RMS each channel (stereo)?

Funds are low which is why I'm wheelin and dealin on craigslist.

The cheapest way would be a low powered mono amplifier. Since most are class D it would be very small and easy to fit, plus very efficient so it wont stress any electrical.

OK a buddy of mine has a shop and had a Sony XM-GTX1302 and wanted it out of his store so he gave me a deal I couldn't pass up.

So I have a Memphis dual coil 4 ohm, rockford fosgate 4 channel amp and sony 2 channel amp. I have polk component speaks in front and polk 5x8 in rear. Based off all that and the specs below can you give me some insight as how I should wire the memphis up?

I'm thinking rockford amp 4 channel to power front and back speakers and memphis to sony amp. It's just the sub wiring has got me doing flips. If it helps here is the manual for the sony amp:

Do this with the sony amp and the subwoofer.

That simple huh? No special - to + jumped over to blah etc etc.......Straight wire as a 2 channel amp. I guess I just make it out to be worse than it should be.:confused:
