putting 6x9's in the 6x8 rear door shells ??

Can this work ? I thought about modifiying the shells from the rear doors 2003 crewcab to fit 6x9's intead of 6x8'd ??

I have a pair of :rocker: pioneer 6x9's right in my closet .. they are about a year old.. like brand new .. I just hate not using them and my wife does not want me to put them in her car... so it was a thought
