2 ported 12's or 4 sealed 12's

which do yall think would be better? 2 ported 12's in 6.86 cu ft box or 4 12's sealed in 4.7 cu ft box. i had all 4 of them in a sealed box and they sounded great. ive never heard them in a vented enclosure before but would only be able to run 2 of them because i dont have the 13.5 cuft of room only about 7.5 to work with.

4 12s sealed will give the same output as 2 12s ported but sealed will dig deeper. Sealed FTW.

... and the box would take up less space. a 6.8 cu ft. box seems a bit ridiculous.

would there be any problem having 2 facing the floor 1 facing the front and one the rear all in the same enclosure with it divided in the center. basically the same design enclosure i have now but made a little bigger to house all 4 with the front and rear glassed into it and made to be painted instead of cheap pleather. i dont think there really would but it may have some kind of cancelation effect idk.

depends on what your goals are. the rule of thumb has been to have all drivers on the same plane as close to eash other as possible to form an array.

i was just trying to explain why they had to have so much volume like your ht speakers in your house. i know a sub is a sub and they are pretty much all the same.
