Shallow mount subs...Kicker or Rockford Fosgate?
 

I am looking to put 2 10" subs in my 06' SuperCrew. I know theres not much room. I mainly listen to rock music :rocker: . Not to much rap. So I want subs that kick hard. I don't want to modify the back seat by raising it. So I'm undecided about getting Kicker 10" shallow mounts subs or Rockford fosgate Punch shallow mount subs. Any opinions or suggestions?

between those two options, id say kicker for sure.

id take a look at image dynamics and elemental designs. they make very good SQ subs that work well in small enclosures, which is what you will have to deal with in our trucks.

if your set on the kickers, go with the CVT or CVR models.

i know that kicker and punch are really good in big type of boxes but u should look into to pioneers shallow speaker they are really good i have them in 12" with a punch 500 and they sound like if i have 4 12 kicking well good luck

The shop I work at sells both Kicker and RF..... I have personal experience with both of them and am a P3 shallow owner in my 05 F150 Screw. I would take the P3 shallow HANDS DOWN ANY DAY OF THE WEEK over the Kicker CVT!

Man I just saw this thread.

I had Punch P2's in my 04 SC...they hit really, really hard.

When I got my F250, they didn't fit. So I had to go with EarthQuakes (Who Pioneer bought the Shallow Sub technology from) and they are just average. You need lots of power for them. I am running only 300 in them but about to get some new amps and new subs.

Going with IDQ10's for my next project and going to put 500 in them.

That is my .02

SuperCrewSound makes a pretty good F150 dual 10 downfire box that P2's will fit in. Word on the street is that JL is also about to release some shallow mount subs. I would look around for info on those.

The only problem with the CVT's is that they are air hungry. The average size dual 10" box for both the super cab and super crews are running about 0.60 cu ft. per sub with a 5.25" mounting depth. Here are both sub specs:

KICKER CVT 10" DVC
MIN. SEALED BOX VOLUME - 0.80 CU FT.
MAX SEALED BOX VOLUME - 3.0 CU FT.
MOUNTING DEPTH - 4 3/16"
POWER HANDLING - 400W RMS/ 800W MAX


RF P3 SHALLOW MOUNT 10" DVC
MIN. SEALED BOX VOLUME - 0.40 CU FT.
MAX SEALED BOX VOLUME - 1.0 CU FT.
MOUNTING DEPTH - 3 1/2"
POWER HANDLING - 300W RMS/600W MAX


Hope this info helps. I've been a Kicker fan for years but I'm about to go with the RF P3 shallow mounts myself.:D

It looks like the P3's take a little smaller enclosure.

The CVT's handle a little more power and are more sensitive though...

IDQ10's require .35 ft sealed. My F250 box as 2x .45 These are my choice but again I am going to be running an Alpine PDX 1X1000 amp on them.

They should pound. They better....

you do know they are more of a SQ oriented sub rather then SPL...

.45 cu ft is very tiny, although these subs are meant for it. im also planning to get a pair myself. let me know how they are.

ALPINE Type R or X best subs i have heared

I have a 2005 FX4 Supercrew. I purchased the dual 10" sub box from www.supercrewsound.com. The volume per speaker is .60 cu ft. I've had RF P2 10" DV subs in the box for the past two years and they still sound great. They recommend .59 cu ft which is perfect for this box. Being a sealed box, the bass is tighter and sounds great for Rock music. I listen to all types of music and like the performance of this setup even with hard hitting rap music.

i went from some p2 10"s to some p3 shallow mount 10"s in the same box & they sound way better.

the p3SMs are awesome, i have 2 & am puttin 500w @1OHM & they sound great

i used to be a kicker fan until i started having problems with them
