2006 F150 KR S'crew Speaker install
 

Just begun. These from insulating the doors with a layer of RAAMat and Ensolite closed cell foam.

Will update as the project progresses.

Looks great so far, are you planning on running new speaker wire to the speakers in the doors or are you planning on splicing into the factory wiring harness to get from the cab to the doors.

I am about to install my component speakers in the doors, and we are trying to figure out the best way to get new speaker wire into the doors, while keeping everything looking clean.

I'll run new speaker wire from the amp to the front crossovers through the door rubber boot wire run. Crossovers under the elbow rest maybe. The rears I'll use the OEM speakers and wiring harness and run them off the HU.

On this 2006 F150 I don't have the pin connector in the door that some do. So I don't have to drill a pin connector, I just have to snake wire through.

Still up in the air a little on where to mount the crossovers. They are pretty big and won't fit inside the elbow rest. Don't want to put them into the doors as I want access.

Matting layers are to reduce outside noise in the cabin, and try as much to prevent reflected sound from the back of the 6.5" Quarts into the cabin. Biggest piece of that is to plug the very large access hole in the doors. The Ensolite helps with reflections. There isn't any room to put in 'egg carton waffle' baffles aft the speaker to disurpt reflections without interfering with the power window.

Wonder why Ford has the plugs in some trucks and boots in the others, there doesnt seem to be any reason 1 way or the other as to why they do it that way.

I have the the boots, and i guess i am going to have to drill them out so that i can get new wires into them.

My Crossovers were in the doors of my 2004 F150 and i will be putting them there again.

Hey Kanuck, I think you mean pin connectors to drill out.

My 2006 S'crew has the easy boots. I think I read an earlier thread that the differences may be where the trucks are assembled.

Here in this photo on the far right middle you can just see the top of the boot that connects to the truck body from the door. I'll snake the wires thru that boot.

My understanding is the trucks built in Dearborn use the harness connectors, which I believe are where the Supercrews are built (mine was anyways) along with Expeditions. I imagine the Expeditions use these as well.

Got an 06 FX4 Supercab w/ boots.

Where did you put your crossovers?? and How much deadener did you use?? Do you have a list of all the matieral I should get, im about to do the same thing, with my new Bows.

Right now these damn big MBQ passives are sitting in the map pockets until I decide where else to put them. Best installs I have seen are to put them into the area inside the door arm rest, but they need to be small enough to fit there. Mine aren't.

I used a layer of Raamat then a layer of Ensolite both inside and outside the doors.

Can't quite remember how much I used to be honest. I had to reorder more Ensolite from Rick, but I have a little Raamat left over. So how much depends on how detailed you want to be.

Got the Profi Vandi.... I want to install them just as you did. Why did you go with Rammat??

If mine dont fit there then I'll just put them on the back wall of the cab. At least that is my plan.

I went with the RAAMat because it was the cheapest butyl mat I sourced, including shipping, and Rick at RAAMat also sells ensolite, the absorbing layer on top of the mat
