What's the best way to install 6x9s?

I have 2002 Extended Cab F-150 and want to install 6x9s in place of the 5x8s. Does anyone know the best way to do this? There are 6x9 speaker adapters (See Link Below), but I want to make sure the door panels go back on. Has anyone done this before? This is really going to be the first time I've even removed the door panels. I am willing to start shredding metal if I have to. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks everyone.

If you REALLY want 6x9s, pull out the Dremel/tin snips/hammer/sawzall or whatever else you got, because fitting 6x9's isnt going to be a walk in the park.
Your going to have to do a lot of trimming I believe...
Those adapters you linked to will most likely NOT fit under the door panel, so I would say you are out of luck there.

Why 6x9s??

Yes, Why 6x9's?

I just had them in an older vehicle and kind of got used to 6x9s. What do you guys suggest?

Ok I was at work earlier. The deal is I just came across a super deal on a Pioneer DEH6800 with the iPod and XM adapter. I really don't want an amp or sub, I just want to upgrade my speaklers a little. It doesn't make much sense to install a new HU and have my factory speakers. I was considering polk 6x9's in the rear and 6.5's in the front. That was just pulling a combo out of my ass that was a step up from the OEM speakers. Obviously this is the place to be for ideas. If anyone has upgraded speakers and has suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

7" woofer > 6.5" woofer > 6x9" woofer > 5x7" woofer

Thanks

Thanks for the advice everyone,
I think I'll go with four 6.5's and not tear up my doors trying to put in 6x9s.

Hey Styx, Is there any kind of modification required to install 6.5's?

I went with your advice and have 6.5 SLC's coming in

W00t, gotta make some adapter plates. basically you trace the old 5x7 on some mdf and cut it out with a jigsaw, cut round holes int the center and drop em in

sounds pretty straightforward, thanks again styx

what bout making some small custom 6x9 boxes and mounting them under the backseat. but i know what your saying bout the sound of the 6x9s. In my old 94 chevy i had 4x6 in front and 6x9 in the back and i loved the power and sound the bigger speakers put out
