Subwoofers

I'm a newbie to speaker systems, so I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about systems. I want to get 2 10" subs underneath the back seat of my 2000 Extended Cab Larait, and I was told that JL Audio W6/7 were the best I could get. But when I priced those things ! For the price of those I can get me an XCal2, or a set of Gibson Headers! Any other cheaper priced subs out there that are good, but won't drain my wallet. (I'm a teenager, so I don't have much to work with.)

This truck has been draining my wallet ever since I got it...:( But its fun!

Yes, its big money on the JL w6 and w7 lines.
Research and look at the following subs:

Resonant Engineering
Adire Audio
Ascendant Audio
Arc Audio (what I use)
Dayton (partsexpress.com)
Image Dynamics

I have an Image Dynamics, replaced a Fosgate Punch with it, 10". I love it, it drives a lot deeper then the Fosgate did. Cost was about 130 bucks, i think.

Take a look at the boston G2 10" sub very impressive and very inexpensive.

I'm lookin for $300 in the subs. I can get a custom built fiberglass sub box (built for F150) with 3 sony xplod 10" for $200. How good are the sonys? Should I just go with that?

Might as well just fart to the beat of the music, because if you go with those you arent going to get much louder.....or sound better.....would probably stink less that way too.......

300 bucks can get a pretty nice pair of 10's.

Alpine type r's are nice for the price. My friend has two ten inch type r's that pound in his 350z. He has them hooked up to a hifonics 1605d, but not much SQ outta the set up. But i would check out type r's, dayton titanics, IDQ, ARC ARCs, rl-i's, tc 2+.

http://www.maxxsonics.com/hifonics/subs_atlas.html try these hifonics atlas (round) I had one in a bedcut in my reg cab S-10 and people were afraid to sit in my truck. sounds very nice and the bass is deep as hell!

mrmsudawgs 03-22-2006 11:33 AM

I've become a big fan of Polk's MOMO line. They hit hard, run deep, and have pretty shallow mounting depths. You can see mine here http://home.comcast.net/~mrmsudawgs/Truckaudio.html
