6x9's in the rear doors?

does anyone have or know if i can fit 6x9's with a depth of 3 3/8" in the rear doors of my '06 s/c? want to move up from pioneer ts-680r's to ts690r's. i'd rather get those to fit rather than adding a second amp and a sub under the seat. my plan is to use ts-c160 6.5 components in the front doors. i had 4 ts680's in my '04 sc and i don't think it was enough speaker for the amp.

My guess is they won't fit, anyways you want midbass up front ideally.

found aftermarket spacers to fit 6x9's to 6x8 openings

at mjmautoinnovations.com. they come in 1/8" & 1/4" thickness at $4.99 & $5.49 respectfully. use more than one if needed to achieve mounting depth needed. started searching after i remembered my old oldsmobile had 4x10's in the rear deck. they used to make cones to adapt 4x10's to 6x9's. i hope this helps some people out.

It seems they dont have that product. You would definately have to cut your door panel to make 6x9s fit in there. How much are you looking to spend doing this project?

If i were you I would get some cadence 6.5 comps (80 bucks), a cheap cadence amp, and some sound deadener. Focus on the install in the front doors, and if you are not pleased, then look into re-doing the back speakers.

they do make that product...

its a spacer to bring the speaker closer to the door panel, no cutting required, just redrilling. bringing the taper out of the depth of the door allows the rear of the cone to fit the cutout. installer.com also offers a product for this fit. $80 for a pair of cadence 6.5''? no thanks, i had pioneer ts 680s in all four doors in my '04. i was going to put a 6.5 component system up front but the 680's have built in crossovers, those are $200 crutchfield price. i have a high end pioneer head unit and 600 watt fosgate amp. ts-690r 6x9's should make a big difference in the rear. they are just much more speaker than 6x8's.

Ha, interesting, let us know how it turns out. Don't let the 80 buck price tag fool you, there are some cheap comps around with pleny of SQ.
